I remember Frankie stating in one of the updates a few weeks back that Halo 3 looks every bit as impressive on a Standard Definition TV. Did I waste my money when I bought a HDTV.

Hell No

for as much as a game looks great on an SDTV, it looks 10x better on a HDTV, i'll never be able to go back.

It is impossible for a SDTV to display the beauty of a true HD image. Even Halo2 upsampled from 480p to 1080i is a huge leap when you have a big (>42") display.

He said it still looks good on SD. But looks even better on HD. He just diddn't want people to think that Halo 3 would just look like Halo 2 if on SD

I couldn't care less about HD quality,I'm not made of money, and I don't want a HD because all it does it make it a better res and makes it a bit clearer. It looks nice and all,but In my opinion,I don't think it's worth spending $500+ for.And I can get a regular TV for lower and make Halo 3 look good too, maybe not as good as HD but at least it looks nice even on a regular TV.

Renders your opinion a little bit on the toothless side then, eh? It may very well be true, but I can attest, first hand, that the difference is negligible.

If I didn't have an big HDTV, I wouldn't have bothered getting a 360. If you continue to play on a small (<42") TV, I can see your point. But once you start getting into the 55" - 65" range, HDTV is practically a requirement. 480i/p is jaggie and colorless at 65".

Like I said,I know HD looks a bit better than 480p,but it's not enough to get me to buy one for 500+ dollars,I can get a good TV that's not HD for way cheaper. Now when it comes to a PC momitor,I'll buy,I'll be getting a 19 inch monitor in a few months, along with a new PC.

You seriously understate the difference between SD and HD.

Not necissarily bud. I play my 360 on a 20.1'' Widescreen LCD Monitor. Games look absolutly sick.

At 20", it makes almost no difference if it's 480i, 480p, 720p or 1080i. Like I said earlier, when you get into the 50"-65" range, it's a huge difference. That 20" image that you covet would be a blurry mess at 65".

the smg is sick if u ask me....lol...but anyway there is no waste in gettin a HDtv...believe me i have a 52 inch...and its sick....and all this talk about 65 inch tv's that arent hdtv's i didnt even know they made tv's that big that werent hd...so shush...but the real fact is that 360 is sick on any tv...its just wack when u play ghost recon four player custom co-op territory and it starts to lag....what is that about? that should never lag when its just split screen

Same. I got a flat screen and it is SDTV and it is clear as a bell and sharp. Like an HD, just cheaper.

*sigh*

I can only conclude that you've never experienced your 360s on a screen larger than 50". I understand that you're happy with what you have and I'm glad to hear it. However, SD 480i/p is a blurry mess compared to a 720p/1080i signal. It's a fact.
