Umm...the flood ARE immune to the halos. They don't get killed by the Halos. they get starved cause evertyhing they feed on dies.
Way to be a -blam!- flamer and be wrong, idiot.

Really? Are you sure? I had NO idea at all that the Flood were immune to the Halos. I've never even played the games!
Ooops!
Oh, and I just come to the Halo forums because I want to know about the games without playing them.

/sarcasm

Why keep the flood at all if you're going to be dead anyway?

If the intent was to completely wipe out the flood they wouln't have holding cells, or the cells would have been opened/released for the activation so they wouln't be around if another race (stupid covies) found it.

I do agree with that. But I still don't think the Forerunners are alive.

The Forerunners were forced to activate Halo, which ultimately led to their demise...

Except not......

There is no way in anything that a race that was advanced enuff to make the Halos, killed themselves, completely.

You amaze me in your stupidity... THEY ACTIVATED THE RINGS, THE RINGS DESTROYED ALL SENTIENT LIFE... THUS THEY WERE DESTROYED...

You shouldn't be talking like that about stupidity...
The rings do not destroy all sentient life. They destroy all life with sufficient biomass to sustain the Flood. Specifically calcium deposits.

Ok, I know it's hard. Think just a little deeper.

WHY THE HELL WOULD THEY KILL THEMSELVES!?!?!?!?

Just because it kills sentient life dosn't mean they didn't create something (the ark) to save some of their race. It's seems rather stupid to kill off your race. Especially if you were going to be dead anyway. A self mercy kill?

Again, the Halos do not kill all sentient life.

Maybe the forerunners aren't capable of hosting the flood. Maybe they found an antidote to the flood, sort of like that sergent johnson guy....

Sgt. Johnson's immunity is because of his exposure to high-yield radiation from a crate of plasma grenades he detonated fighting the Covenant. But I doubt the Forerunners are immune, otherwise they wouldn't have felt so threatened by the Flood.

makes sense, although if they were immune they still wouldn't like a bunch of ugly flood storming at them wipping them and eating them and stuff. I'd still be scared of the flood even if i was immune.

Understandable, but do you think they'd take it to the point of building something as destructive as a Halo unless they were desperate?

They had more than ampel weapons to fight them. It wouldn't make sence to desimate their own race to remove something that wasn't a direct threat to them. If they wern't getting infected the flood would eventually die off.

how do you know the halos are so destructive???
maybe they are similar to EMP, nothing physically changes.
maybe they send out radiation that slowly kills the animals, if they were immune this wouldn't bother them, and if it kills the flood without them having to go and battle, even better. Maybe the ark is like noah's ark, the forerunners built it to keep the animals away from the radiation!

I don't know about you, but I think that such widespread death qualifies as destructive.
