"Forged in the flames of passion and perseverance. Go forth and represent."

Ok I figured since halo 3's lifespan is pretty much in its waning hours and there is one question that has killed me since the start of halo 3. I would imagine its been a closely kept bungie secret. But its always bugged me nonetheless. Now before I ask my question I want to point out that I already have recon and I know its unlockable via the Vidmasters and whatnot. My question is before bungie made recon unlockable via the vidmasters a lot of members thought there was a secret way to unlock recon that the staff knew about. possibly a skull for example. I spent quite a while playing through halo's campaign searching for a way to unlock it, I SLASO'd the campaign backwards and forwards, got out of the flood and followed countless youtube videos I knew were fake but still held out some hope. So I just want to know was there ever a secret way to unlock recon armor? I dont even need to know how if there was(although that would be nice) I just need a yes or no answer. So I don't feel like I wasted all my time searching for something that doesn't exist.

GOAT

No, there was not.

Remember the Gate in Halo 2? Or TUE(lol)? Nothing but myths.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten
