TBH, what 343i have done with the Glasslands trilogy and Halo 4 have killed something about the ending of Halo 3 for me.

The ending of Halo 3 was so good because it was idealistic and really was a story of good getting up over evil.
The Elites finally coming to their senses, there was something so magical about that.
Especially the final scene with the memorial and the "ultimate end" to the Human-Covenant War.

The ending of Halo 3, there was something so special about it ):

Wake me when the jews are gone.

Maybe to people who werent invested into the lore because if you were you would (probably) be disapointed by the number of loose cannons: the remaining Halos, The flood, The remaining of the covenant and most importatly what was going to hapen to chief and medicant bias.

Bungie owed Micro$oft another 2 games, so there really wasn't any way it would have happened.

And from what I've seen, 343i is just going to continue doing what Bungie did.

Up until Halo 4 was announced I read almost everything that the canon had to offer.

The ending of Halo 3 was incredibly tight and well pulled off. It wasn't an ME3 to any extent.

The thing about the Cheif though: It killed him without actually killing him for the sake of fan-service. Very few people were "un-happy".

I think both games didn't have the Chief for a reason. I have a feeling that if Bungie could have, they would have left the overarching story at H3.

I hated Halo 3's story, but the ending was nice.

Whether Halo 4 will be good or not is yet to be seen.

Halo 3 left way too many unanswered questions.

Beside, I think Glasslands portrays a much more realistic feel for the Halo Universe.

The Elites aren't a hive mind and neither are Humans. There are people on both sides that want to kill the other.

I can very much see where you're coming form, OP.

I'm waiting for H4's campaign to make up my mind on the matter.

Lets Boogie

If bungie never made a legendary ending, never showed the ship drifting close to that Forerunner Planet/thing, while creepy sounding music played, then yes i would say that H3 would have been a good conclusion. Just with MC saying, "wake me when you need me", then roll the credits.

BUT

Bungie truly created a cliff hanger, and even more questions, with the legendary ending, that it was obvious there would be a halo 4.

The only way I'd accept Halo 3 as the last Halo game is if it was either:

-the campaign was done by 343
-the deleted levels were included
-The Covenant was longer, we got a Gravemind boss fight instead of Cortana, the last level culminated with something other than a firefight, and something else happened instead of the Guilty Spark boss battle + hog run. I'd have liked the last level better if there were Covies involved... I found the last few levels to be as lackluster as Halo 2's (Uprising, High Charity, Great Journey). Hog run music was great though

I think that Glasslands alone would have been alright.

心の中に弱い風が吹いています。

343i so far has me convinced that they know what they're doing. And have me looking forward to where they'll be taking the series really.

I always felt that after Gravemind, we finally understood the Covenant in the Halo franchise. They were linear levels, but I loved the setting, the lore, and the music.

I can agree that some of the combat in these missions was lack lustre at times but the pure immersive experience made up for it.

The first half up to Regret was great, the settings were varied and beautiful.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
-Douglas Adams

No 343i are doing the right thing.
Hopefully we'll get to know more about the Human vs Forerunner war and exactly what happened after it and why the decision was made to remove all human technology and why the portal to "The Ark" was placed on Earth.
And also who the Precursors were and why the Humans have some genetic connection to the Forerunners.
And it would be fun to know how the Precursor vs Forerunner war went down and how the Forerunners won it.

Why are you here?

Halo 3 seemed like the perfect ending, like there shouldn't be any more games after. But i'm not angry that they are making more, but happy. Kind of weird.

  • 10.06.2012 2:10 PM PDT

In terms of Bungie's involvement with the series, I happy with the end of Halo 3.

  • 10.06.2012 2:15 PM PDT

I wish Bungie held the rights to Halo. It just wont be the same with 343's touch. I did like Halo remastered. Halo 4 to be continued.....I wish I could understand why Bungie would break from the hand that feed them so well.
