Jason A. is an 18 year old friend of ours who is dying with Rhabdomyosarcoma cancer, a soft-tissue cancer. I'd like some advice on things I might get get him related to Halo 2. I had thought about trying to get a playable demo or a beta version but my inquiries have gone unanswered. I assume that these were considered unreasonible requests. If someone has other ideas for something(s) special I might get him or facilitate getting to him, please let me know. I've been concerned that since his doctor has told him to think of living in terms of months that he might be too sick to enjoy his reserved copy of Halo 2 when he gets it, but so far he's hanging in there. He's big on Xbox and PC games. Feel free to respond or email me at jdjohns74@hotmail.com. Thanks.

Well there are always the Halo figures from Joyride Studios. They run about $15 each plus S&H through DieCastExpress.com.

*Oh yeah, important edit!* And praying he does better.

Thanks "guys". Those are some helpful ideas. Jason needs a miracle at this point, but doctors have been surprised before. He has some test Oct. 1 to see if there are live cancer cells in his bone marrow or others places we hope they are not. Kind of like real life "flood". It's best to kill them all. Blessings to you. JD.

Aaw, man that's too bad. I don't really know of anything to offer you. I just wanted to offer my condolences. If there is a god, he'll make it to see Halo 2!

Thanks for the sentiment for Jason. Consider becoming a philosopher/warrior. There must be a God and gods, afterall, you have a Halo.

Well how long do the doctors say he has?
If he's got a good while yet, preorder halo2, another Xbox, and a bunch of controllers...

A good gift for your friend would be a cure for cancer. I bet he'd like that a lot. I know I would.

Well said. Make the best of his time. I would try and put together a bunch of Halo 2 demo videos to share with him, etc.

I'm not surprised Bungie didn't send you a beta. I think it is a horrible thing, but I'm sure there have been a lot of people claiming cases of their own similar to yours just to get a copy. I know for a fact that your friend will make it to Halo 2. After all, it is enough insentive for anybody to fight for their lives. At this point in time, I'm sure he is probably spending quite a bit of time in the hospital. If I were you, I'd request some fan art and use it to liven his room up. That way, when he wakes up everyday, he will see all the pictures and it will inspire him to continue his own battle on Earth.

BTW, I'm not sure if I should say this, but Srgt. Johnson survived the flood infection because he had cancer too. Look at Johnson, he made it to Halo 2... :))

a very unfortunate situation indeed... like as said before... maybe get some Halo 2 ads or something to decorate his room if that is allowed...

Thanks again for all the input. Jason has Rhabdomyosarcoma cancer. In layman's terms it is an aggressive soft tissue cancer that in not real common and seems to attack only people under 19 years old. He had a tumor in his foot that spread to his bone marrow by the time the docs figured out why he was so tired. I think they've killed the inital tumor and they are testing him today for any live cancer cells anywhere else in his body including the bone marrow. 6 weeks ago there were some resistent cells found there. His oncologist told Jason and his family a month ago to "think in terms of months". Now I need to research some ideas, including some Halo2 clothing and get his sizes, etc. and keep praying. Blessings all.
- One more thing of interest, someone at one of the hospitals around Nashville, TN gave Jason an 800 alpha pager that can receive short emails so that people could let Jason know that they are praying for him. The address is 8004566812@archwireless.net Don't use a subject line or signature stuff. It's a neat idea and is probably still in effect for a few days.

I don't know if this is happening to anyone else, but every time I see the subject as I'm browsing around on the forum, I keep reading this one as "Looking for good gift ideas for Halo with nut cancer." I just thought it was too funny not to share. Glad to hear Jason's doing a little better. Killing tumors is good.

After first emailing the webmaster and talking with friends I realized how this could sound like a lame scam to get a beta copy of Halo 2. I even sent 2 copies of emails from Jason's mother which contained a fair amount of technical information about his cancer and treatment. Without a miracle Jason will die within months. I've given up on the idea of getting any a beta copy or any form of a playable demo or even Bungie having the courtesy to expalin the facts of life to me. I simply wanted some ideas to add a little joy to Jason's shortened life. If someone doesn't believe me then I'm not the least bit worried about it. I do appreciate the several good ideas that I've gotten and the sympathies for Jason. Thanks.
