Each time someone stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope. That hope is three little numbers: 1 - 1 - 7.
There is hope in us all. We gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face. We must do the thing which we think we cannot do; stand with the Master Chief and Finish this Fight!
We have all longed for some special game to come out and grab our attention, quickly becoming favourites in our hearts after endless hours of gameplay. In this repsect, the first game I ever loved was System Shock 2.
It grabed me by the balls, threw me out of the window and stomped me the ground with its plot, character build up and intense moments of horror which have yet to be recreated. As an FPS sci-fi game it totally ruled and I cannot wait for its sequel Bio-Shock to come out on the 360.
Back to point, since that game I looked high and low on the PC platform for an advisary to those intense adrenaline moments where I would have to think fast and act faster.
Then I heard someone say "Halo" on a new Microsoft console called the Xbox and that there were also books out for it too. Against my friends wishes I went out and bought "Halo: The Fall of Reach" and and Xbox console with Halo as my first ever console game. I started reading the book and as soon as I started, the storyline and events that happend in the book gave me a realistic view of what a hero is.
John 117 is the epitomy of heros in our modern day and age where we are finally able to look up to someone, but the storyline in where we follow John aka the Master Chief from the "Fall of Reach" into the first game of the series (Halo: Combat Evolved) is what makes us love the Halo universe all-together.
Even when Halo 2 came out and efforts were focused by Bungie on the multiplayer aspects of the game, the story telling never lost its cutting edge or intesity that we saw in the books or in the prior Halo game.
Admitelly there are some holes where the games and books sort of go in opposite directions, but this is not the time to highlight those. Rumour has it that a third book is coming out along with a movie and a third and finall instalment to the gaming series. This will hopefully fill most of the reaming holes in the story thus giving us the best story of our generetion since the Star War era and Lord of the Rings!
What ever happens in the gaming aspect of Halo the plot was always there to tells us the story of a little boy called John, who was raised to beleive in honour, duty, sacrifice, to follow him from losing his first Spartan comrade, to learning that he is the last of his kind, that he is the only one that can save the Earth from the Covenant.
I believe that he will win this fight, even thought John was never the strongest, the fastest, or the smartest, he was always the luckiest, and no matter what happen in the future events of the story, John has never lost a fight.
So bring on Halo 3, bring on the comic, the film and the book and lest find out about the final chapter on the Halo Rings, the Marines, Cortana, the Flood, the Covenant, and about John and his friends that fight to save Earth!
