U Mirin?

Why don't you do any work on your chest or legs or something? You look like a cartoon character.

We have a reputation system. Forum Ninjas/Employees have the highest reputation, followed by Mythic Members, then Legendary Members, then Heroics, then regular Members. There are a few exceptions to it, but this is usually the pattern.

Our system works fine. There's no need to show off a little number that means nothing next to/under our name.

The current system is not based off the right things. The current one is based off ban history, how long you have an account, etc. A reputation system such as one in the OP would be based off other users. So if you are a good and helpful user, you will have the reputation [power] to prove it rather than just nerding up the site for 5 years to get to the top.

Do you really think it wouldn't be wildly abused by the citizenry of this site?

and what's it even matter? It's not like titles actually mean much of anything to anyone with sense when interacting with other people.

I play for fun and armory completion. :)

Wait, so would a negative user positive repping you give you negative rep?

You know what we really need though?

An irrigation system.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Truth. Water would really help this community grow.

It is possible to commit no errors and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life.

Cheeto is the only one among you that doesn't suck.

No. I really don't get why people want this so much, it has no value, it means nothing.

If people disagree with your post, or just don't like you, they'll downvote you. The number would hold no real statistical value, and it's not like it would reflect on how good a member you actually are.

Besides, we already have a decent version. Member titles and ranks do the same job, but without resorting to popularity contests to decide what your forum rank should be.

I think it would be good to have the people who have made an impression recognised.

@Geegs30

I feel that people would attempt to lower the rep of members that they disagree with over certain things. I think there are other, better ways to try and convince people to be respectable around here.

Do you think that is wrong of them to do? If so, why?

My view of "rep" could be different from the OP's, but my first thoughts when I hear it go towards the word respect. Yeah, I may disagree with you, but I have mad respect for the clarity and reason in the argument you just put forth, plus you weren't an ass about it. You deserve positive "rep" for that.

If it's just there for people to click when they disagree, I feel it could deter some folks from actually having a discussion, and both parties miss out on broadening their viewpoint.

I would make it my personal missions to make True Boss Underdawg the top ranked user.

"You get what you put into it."

When Legendary is too mainstream, you have Heroic. When you're the leader of the church of MLGeezus, have Epic in your username, and can't write 'About Me's' to save your life, what do you get?

This guy. And now, an side note: Most things I post contain lethal doses of sarcasm, so be warned, and try not to take me seriously.

Finally, a message to Bungie trolls everywhere.

I know, right?
Jay acts like she's better than everyone else simply because she's a chick.
I hope she chokes to death.

People would abuse the everloving crap out of this. Plenty of well-known members would have rock-bottom reps because trolls would get on their fifty alts and neg them constantly every time they made a post.

Besides, there's actually a like/dislike post script you can install (sadly not widely-used) that lets you do this to people without it affecting your forum life in any way.

  • 10.08.2012 12:43 AM PDT

It may work in some sites really well but bungie.net has a unique bunch of people. I expect a few trolls would mess it all up but then that is a risk the webteam would have to take I.e. everyone giving neg points to a certain member.

I love our current system.. This system just doesn't seem like a good fit for bungie.net's community.

I wish that once you'd reach mythix you wouldn't lose it, but that's just me.

  • 10.08.2012 7:03 AM PDT

Nah, I'd rather it stay without a Rep system.

  • 10.08.2012 7:05 AM PDT

nope, rep power is never done correctly. remember this is the internet!
