Subject: What's with all these contests being "rigged"?

Posted by: spartain ken 15
I would say I am one of the most successful trolls in Bungie.net history.

I have noticed that the past two contests have had some sort of drama. Can anyone actually confirm that people are rigging the votes?

I'm active in a few different groups on this site and to be honest I think a few people were mislead by a few posts. To be honest I don't feel as though it's wrong for someone to ask for votes in a private group, using alts or some other means though is wrong.

What does the community think about people asking for votes in private groups?

*Please do not single people out ITT.*

Use a semi-colon after "private group" in that sentence. It will read differently and your point will come across better.

I think it creates a distinct advantage but I have no problem with it. Alts are what I have a problem with.

Ken has admitted to "rigging" a poll at least twice. No confirmation on the last one but screenshots from (at least) three different people in FT seem to show he was behind this one too.

GOAT

It's fine.

These contests are all for fun. The prize is a Bungie sweatshirt(correct?), no one is losing out if they don't win.

Alts are more of a problem though. If 10 people each have 3 alts, that's potentially 30 votes in for one person, which can throw the contest. Maybe I'm just an optimist, but I don't think that's been the case with these recent polls. Unfortunately there's no counter to this yet, but as I said before, it's all for fun.

Honestly, I find it more silly than I find it upsetting. I imagine we'll be going back to employee judging soon enough, and that will be that.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I agree with OP, asking for votes should be fine as long as YOU don't use alts, which to my knowledge no one has ever since I have no proof and can't make false assumptions of foul play.

But, if Deej says it is not okay to ask for votes in private groups, I am sure we will all be happy to oblige. These contests are for fun and bring everyone together, no need to cause a commotion on the mains.

I hope we continue to see the contests grow and we continue to get more community involvement. I like how the community webteam has made strides to get us to more creative and make our time here more fun.

- never has rigged the polls
- didn't mess with the last one
-asked people to vote for a specific person twice
-screenshots from FT say otherwise and I trust 3 other members over you

Only time I use a semi-colon is to indicate "end of block".

Do you think alts were used to decide the winners of the two previous contests?

About the semi-colon: I read grammatically more than the average user so it just came across a bit awkward. Feel free to leave it :)

As for the alts? I believe they have been used but there is no way to prove it. Maybe if the site was a bit more updated there could be some feature on the poll where you can click a link that has a list of all the users that voted for a particular option. All of the newly created/obvious alt accounts on that list could be nullified as votes, but we sadly don't have anything like that. No one joins this site just to vote on a poll, that is why I said obvious alt accounts.

Every plan has its fallouts, but I felt that mine was pretty fool proof.

I think people are confusing asking private group members to vote for you with "rigging".

No, acnboy. Spartain Ken 15 is a lesser being. Much like the bacteria that lives in your shit.

But sometimes it becomes (and has this time, and at least one of the last times) voting for someone for an ulterior motive rather than because you think theirs is the best. It's disingenuous and pretty sad.
