I have a suggestion for both of you . . . Grow the -blam!- up. If you are gonna have a tissy, do it via pm. No need to create a public spectacle and contaminate the forums with your drama.

Stop caring and get over it works too.
It's not about the shirt. Or the contest of it all. It's about ruining one of the fun things we have in the community right now.

How was it ruined?
I could say that that escalated quickly, But I won't.

On topic: rigid polls should be outlawed on the forums. It's simply inappropriate.

I think people are confusing asking private group members to vote for you with "rigging".
But sometimes it becomes (and has this time, and at least one of the last times) voting for someone for an ulterior motive rather than because you think theirs is the best. It's disingenuous and pretty sad.

You do realize we do this for the LEADER OF THE FREE GODDAMN WORLD, right?

If you want someone to win, you'll vote for them. What business of ours is it to worry about why people are voting for a guy to win a shirt? Seriously, it's a damn shirt.

Only if you want to recieve a dozen private messages every day asking "I have this poll that I want to share with the forum, but I'm not sure if it is too rigid, could you give me your opinion as a Forum Ninja?"

Does that stop it from being a problem there as well? Didn't think so breh. Gathering an army to vote one way regardless of what they really feel is dumb.

Because this is the only discussion there's been about it, right? I'm the only one 'starting something' right? I'm the only one talking about this situation, right? Good. Now that we've established that I'm the only one talking about this, I'll stop doing it since I'm such a bother.

Ken has admitted to "rigging" a poll at least twice. No confirmation on the last one but screenshots from (at least) three different people in FT seem to show he was behind this one too.
What third one?

Wow this is very incrimminating, Ken looks like a cheater and a tryhard.

I agree with OP, asking for votes should be fine as long as YOU don't use alts, which to my knowledge no one has ever since I have no proof and can't make false assumptions of foul play.

But, if Deej says it is not okay to ask for votes in private groups, I am sure we will all be happy to oblige. These contests are for fun and bring everyone together, no need to cause a commotion on the mains.

I hope we continue to see the contests grow and we continue to get more community involvement. I like how the community webteam has made strides to get us to more creative and make our time here more fun.
What a load of crap

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

It's a popularity contest. I would say it's wrong to ask for votes in private groups, but it's not against the rules. However I think people should vote for the one they think is the best, not their friends.

If I had entered I know I wouldn't have enough people in private groups who know me to sway the vote in my favour. Would I ask my close friends to vote for me? Yeah, probably... but that doesn't make it right.

It's obvious that you have a problem with someone but I don't want to discuss that. I want to discuss the tactics of said person and would like a better understanding of what the community deems acceptable. If you can't take part in that type of discussion I suggest you try finding another thread.

Except in this case, it's not.

You're not forcing them to vote for you. If the people who do vote for someone who asks them to only do so because they are friends with the person they are voting for, so what? That just means that they think their friend has the best entry.

Making alts is cheating. Getting people to make alts is cheating. Asking people to vote for you is called... voting.

Everything that's happened with this so far is entirely because of that person. Considering we're allowed to make threads about specific users now, I don't see why the mods and people are so uptight about talking about people (especially when they deserve it).

I think people that are messing up the polls should get the punishment of washing all the outside windows on the studio. Lure them in as a one of seven type of thing then strap them to Jerome and make them wash windows/perfect punishment.

These contests are all for fun. The prize is a Bungie sweatshirt(correct?), no one is losing out if they don't win.
But...but you don't understand! That sweatshirt...it could mean life or death!
