This crap seriously needs to stop. While ken was being an obvious tool, i don't understand why groups need to "war" like this.

The whole Mythic vs ----- thing was a really lame joke. The thing with that, though, is that it all took place behind closed doors where we all just rolled with it like idiots. With this situation, it's people going out of there way to ruin Community Contests Run By Bungie (DeeJ)
I mean seriously, How big of an A-hole do you need to be to feel 'alright' with yourself when screwing something up for EVERYONE? I guess this is what trolling actually is. Think of the dude who's been living under a rock for 10 years, just joined this community, and attempted to do his first contest? That's a great welcome wagon right there.

I get that it's just a T-shirt, and this is just a gaming internet forum, but Bungie is cool enough to literally hire a guy to interact with us and bridge the gap between Fan and Developer. Screwing with that bridge isn't something that should be done.

Either Play Nice, Get Out, or Get Thrown Out. Cut the -blam!-.

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

I vote that Skibur and Evilcam have the only votes that matter.

Well I guess that renders my vote moot. This idea just got confusing.

I don't see anything wrong with asking your friends to support you, as it is simply bringing their attention to something.

Asking or implying that you want them to get on alts and vote for you is wrong though, but you don't have any control over this if you explicitly state it's against your wishes.

It's really easy to tell who is using alts though.

Using the privacy of groups to launch personal attacks should get the entire group purged in my opinion...as well as coordinating the -blam!- posted in the above quote.

I mean seriously...these things go from innocent talent contests to bloody popularity brawls damn quick.

To be fair they did tell him where to go, and irishfreak's poem was ahead from the start and likely would have won even if they did vote in his favour.

Still better than you.

.....most of you, at least.

lol

I think this is all getting blown out of proportion. Telling people to vote for someone vs them actually doing it are different things, and I think there have been some misinterpretations.

Soliciting a crime and committing a crime are different things, but still crimes. What's your point?

This is the internet. No-one committed a crime, or did anything outside "the rules". What's your point?

It was clearly an analogy and one could argue that this activity goes against the "Play nice" rule.

Does anyone even read these?

For -blam!- sake guys groups will most likely be removed if you don't cut this crap. Ken, you gotta stop asking for votes in groups. You have to learn in your little brain by now that it is an ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE idea.

Everyone has to stop with this immaturity.

I'm either a fool or an inteligent man, depending on how sleepy or angry I am.

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

Well, I just read through the thread and lost quite a bit of respect for certain members. This thread reeks of immaturity about the subject at hand, defensive overreactions, people who simply don't care, and other things. While Sken may not be at fault here, it does seem like unfair play was involved.

Do you know how often the Flood gets trolled with dummy accounts posting stuff? This is easily a spillage from that.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

It is a crime to ask people to vote for someone?

I guess all the election people at my school trying to sign people up for voting for a certain candidate should be thrown in jail right?

Normally, people use analogies with the intent of simplifying another event. That's what you were trying to do, I pointed out your analogy was wrong, and now you can't support it. I still want to know what the point behind it was.

Also, the play nice rule is entirely subjective. I don't know why it exists.

Just drink a beer and everything will be ok

Looks like Ken's returned from his "holiday" and things've kicked off already.

But my few cents.

I think that asking for the support of your group members, in good faith, is fine.
ie. "Hey guys, I got into the final list for the poetry comp. Some support would be nice."
But I think that, if not in good faith, such as directing or ordering them to do so, asking your group members for votes isn't great.
ie. "Guys, go and vote for me. I need to win so go and vote for me guys."
Making alts and voting for yourself is sad though.

Seriously, we all already knew that Ken trolled for votes in SV/FT. He made his bed(or dug his grave, if you prefer) and he gets to sleep in it, because everyone has seen the screencaps where he does exactly what he says he doesn't do. We can now all just point at laugh at him when he goes on defending himself because we all know he's full of it. Fool me once, etc.

Asking = trolling?

. . . because everyone has seen the screencaps where he does exactly what he says he doesn't do. We can now all just point at laugh at him when he goes on defending himself because we all know he's full of it. I haven't been paying the most attention here, but I think Ken has only denied asking for alts to vote, not merely asking for votes (which would be patently foolish of him to deny for the reasons you state).

In a manner of speaking, I think so.

Except he was asking in SV/FT. We all know how that turns out, even if SK likes to pretend it doesn't. I was in TGP, I have an idea of what kind of crowd populates those groups.

On top of that, even if he wasn't specifically asking for alts, he was asking members to vote a certain way, for no particular reason other than his own personal amusement. Ken often has no attachment to anyone/anything involved in the polls yet he tried to influence them. nope.jpg
