As the veil of lunacy descends, as past and future blend and shuffle, one image appears and flickers through the landscape, wraithlike. It is the Hatchling, the Newborn, walking the path of corruption, a lone figure shining in the toxic shadows. She comes dressed for war, and her wrath is terrible.
I think Chief should die but not some pathetic death like you've mentioned. We've been through a lot with this character and I want him to go out in a blaze of glory. Possibly sacrificing himself in order to save everyone else. I've even imagined the scene: Opening of a city street in shambles, debris and bodies (both covenant, flood, and human) everywhere. You see heads popping out of cover, both humans and elites (and possibly grunts). Everyone wanders out into the street looking around in amazement until they stumble upon the Chief's lifeless body. (For stories sake, we'll assume everyone knows what he did and we'll leave that up to bungie). Slowly the realization sinks in, "the Chief is dead and he died saving us all." The group then lift his body onto their shoulders and carry him off. Fade to black. (optional, may make the story too cheesy -->) Fade in to an incredibly large funeral of sorts. Humans, Elites, all paying their respects to the galaxy's fallen savior. Shots of Keys, Arbiter, Johnson, etc. giving eulogies (can't hear voices, only sad yet triumphant music, you know the type) Cut to shots from around the world of people honoring the Chief in various ways. Fade into final shot of Chief's casket being lowered into the ground just as the music hits the top of the crescendo. Moment of silence then a newly revamped kick ass version of the Halo theme blairs while the credits roll. Fin. What do you guys think?
