"I have no words that would do justice to the atrocities you commit to the English language, as well as your continued assaults on the concepts of basic literacy and logical reasoning."
Um, yes they can. Don't speak of things that you know nothing about. All they have to do is put on their advertisements that this is a "projected release date, and is subject to change based on information from the manufacturer." And in many cases, they don't even have to do that.
This thread is locked. People continuing to bring this up will be warned, then banned. Posting to a BUNGIE message board that we don't know the release date of our own game, especially when we said it was going to be arriving in 2007... well, that's just the height of idiocy. I am not in the mood to suffer fools today, so I suggest you guys knock it off. Bungie is the only entity that can tell you the date of Halo 3's release. It will be in 2007. We'll elaborate more on that when we're ready to pin it down for you.
Oh, and Halo 2 wasn't pushed back multiple times. We announced a single date, and met it. Now, maybe our internal schedules said differently, but the reason we don't announce things until we're sure we can meet them is for that reason - so we can adjust schedules as needed. Right now, for example, we very confident Halo 3 will arrive in 2007. We cannot confidently give you an exact date in 2007, so we're not going to give you one.

Wow, people.
Best-Buy cannot lie about release dates whenever it feels like doing so! I have said this countless times before. If they give you a date, it is most likely official.
IMO, I think Bungie said that the release date was in 2007 just to be safe; we all know what happened with Halo 2. Its release date kept getting pushed back all the time. Maybe 2007 isn't the official time; maybe it is just a back-up date just in case something goes wrong.
But if Best-Buy has November 16 on its site, then where do you think they got it from? Hm? You honestly think that Best-Buy would magically make up a release date for the damn game? You honestly think they would purposely piss off their customers with a fake date?
Did you all forget what happened last time? With Halo 3? Remember all the Halo 3 advertisements in stores? Remember how, every time, Bungie denied Halo 3's existence? Then look what happened: Halo 3 is revealed! Gasp! Don't you think that maybe...just maybe...the same could happen with the release date? Maybe Bungie denies the release date, but then when November 16 comes around the corner, wouldn't it be dandy to see Best-Buy sending halo 3 in the mail?
I'm gonna have to believe Best-Buy on this one. It is wrong to think that a whole company would lie to its customers about its release date.
