When Halo 2 came out, a lot of people were disappointed that there was no fall damage. personally, I thought it was cool; I mean, the damage distance in Halo 1 was kinda pathetic, considering it was the master chief. So I thought, "sweet, that make the game a lot simpler, and more fun" I was right, imo, until the inevitable methods of exploiting it came out.
I am not a fan of changing a game aspect simply because some people choose to exploit that aspect of the game. However, some of the jumps you can take (especially in SP, although some pretty ridiculous falls exist in MP) are just slightly impossible. So I propose to reintroduce fall damage, but change it up somewhat.
First of all, you should be able to fall much farther than you could in Halo 1. but to balance this out, falling doesn't affect your shields. think about it: falling shouldn't take down shields, it should hurt you. your shields might even be a way to cushion your fall. but if you do fall to far, your body should take the hit. i don't know it they are going to reintroduce visible health in Halo 3; I personally don't care that much, although I prefer the invisible health meter.
