Halo 2 had a fun multiplayer which changed a lot of things Halo: CE had, which made fantastic. There was skill involved, but apparently, not quite enough to keep up with the first game. Not with sweep snipes, auto-aim and all that.
Being that Halo CE was never a live enabled game, and not subject to the network conditions that Halo 2 has to deal with, I don't see how you can realistically compare the mulitplayer performance of the two. If Halo CE had been Live enabled game, they would've made the same adjustments to the autoaim in multiplayer as they did in Halo 2-to see how the game performs on the XBOXLive set-up. Even if you play H2 on LAN, it's still designed to perform well as a Live enabled game, so they designed it that the gameplay was uniform across the board. . H2 on Live probably has 10 times the amount of players on it than H1 did on LAN. The game was adjusted to work within that framework, and it seems to work better than any other XBox or 360 Live enabled game I've ever played. The dynamics of the game are more complex, and there's such a variety of playstyles that work in H2 that it makes the H1 "skill" arguement is just seem idiotic to me. Complain all you want about Halo 2's autoaim, you benefit from it too, and to try and deny that on some level of "skill" you achieved in a completely different game is simply overestimating yourself as a player. Harsh world isn't it?
