I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.

User Name Change

Would the Web Team ever consider allowing us users the ability to alter our user name? Not an unlimited amount of alteration, just one.

Has the Web Team ever expressed any desire to do so for Bungie.next? Has Achronos or anyone else on the Web Team stated that a feature such as this would be impossible/difficult to implement?

I just find it a bit annoying that I'm stuck with this user name when I'd much rather have my username as Glowe, Funicular or PBX. I know it is a bit pathetic to be so annoyed about something as trivial as a user name on a gaming website, however, as most of us here in the Septagon, I visit this site a lot, and every time I read my user name as: RigZ Boi I want to rip my balls off in anger that little bit more.

Thanks.

For more discussion, tell your beloved OP what username you would like if you had the possibility to change it.

Inappropriate. Went a little to far with the butt hole tearing.

@Geegs30

Perhaps a single name change for those users that have been around for a while and have played nice for the most part. I wouldn't expect the web team to enable everyone to switch at the same time, would be quite chaotic.

Thing is, I get banned a lot. So I'd be pretty glum if that were to happen. Hopefully, however, the Web Team would consider doing it by account age rather than through a system similar to that of the title system.

Yes, Achronos has mentioned playing with the idea of attaching a username change as a Bungie Pro feature. Nothing is confirmed, but this topic has come up multiple times.

Actually, the suggestion of tying it to Bungie Pro was because I thought that we'd want to gate it. It isn't about making money, it is about making sure an anonymous griefer isn't constantly changing his name. If he's a Bungie Pro subscriber, he wouldn't have been just another anonymous user.

We've moved on from that line of thinking a while ago, though. User Identity is a bigger problem that needs more than just a bandaid solution. But rest assured that the inflexibility of login names has been part of our thinking in this area; your complaints have been heard.

I think the allowing Bungie Pro members to change their username every once in a while was purely for profit. There was a demand for changing usernames, there was a service on Bungie.net you could subscribe to for money (Bungie pro).

To give members incentive to subscribe to this service, Achronos and the online team were probably considering, or giving it thought to add this feature (changing of the username every once in a while) so that more users would subscribe to the service, making Bungie more profit.

With Bungie Pro being gone, I don't think this feature will be implemented, unless you pay for it.

GOAT

Op can't inb4.

Anyways, I don't see the option of changing our usernames any time soon, or even with the site's next update. Not unless they adopt a "display name" and "username" thing, where we have one set username(the one we signed up with), and the display name which the public sees.

Thanks for that one. Is there anything more recent than that, however?

I think after a certain time period(I'd say around 5 years), we should be able to change our name.

To be honest, I wouldn't want to have to pay to change my name. Maybe if there was an "Percentage" bar or something and when hitting a certain percentage, you can change your name, but then the percentage hits 0%.

And so the war of Gods and Demons shall begin. Tomorrow will end with your heart in my hand!

Love ya! =3

I think that would be a cool feture I guess. I mean, I wouldn't change mine but for the people like you who "want to rip there balls off" it seems like a pretty good feture.
Just so it doesn't come to that.
But anyway, if I could change my username I would probably change it to CrawlingShadow9. The lack of capitalization irritates me. Not enough to make me want to tear off my own genitalia or anything. Just makes me slightly annoyed.

Ummm, actually, picking a name on an internet forum is serious business and you should have to suffer the consequences of that decision.
