I thought it was okay. After seeing the first trailer I thought it was going to be a complete trainwreck but after watching it, it's not too bad. Some really cheesy bits in there and some not so great acting bits, but there were some parts that translated well.

I thought it was great, but I agree with the consensus on its shortcomings.

Also, they really dropped the ball with Chief's armor. I mean c'mon, there's cosplay stuff out there that looks better than that.

I agree the acting wasn't always the best and it was kinda cheesy at times haha but it was their first series and they had some young actor so like I've been saying it was really well done for what they had.

yeah there is a lot of awesome suits out there, but I thought it was pretty awesome and very well made. I'd take a suit like that any day.

I thought it was really cool to include Fred and Kelly, though they were a bit... robotic. That vacant stare they had, and looking at the Chief simultaneously.

Also, I'm pretty sure that the armour they used was a couple of decades away from being invented...

Expressing my strong liberal views without shame. Favorite quotes below:

"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe."
"One starts to live when he can live outside himself."

- Albert Einstein

Overall, very good.

However, as others have mentioned, there are shortcomings:

1) The acting. Given the show's budget (which is small in industry terms), it is not very surprising that the acting isn't phenomenal. However, given that other elements aren't terribly conceived, this is somewhat forgivable.

2) Plot holes. Really? A planet with an entire military academy was wiped off the map within like...30 minutes max?

3) Canon. For the most part, the episodes were consistent with the canon. This feat in and of itself is very commendable, given that Reach was a nightmare yet it was developed by the series creators. However, certain things irked me. For one, the MC gets "bumped" by a hunter and acts as if nothing happens. Yes, he is wearing MJOLNIR and is a Spartan, but Hunters are much stronger than Spartans in terms of sheer force.

4) Neglecting other Spartans. Kelly and Fred were an after thought unfortunately. Come on. Kelly is the fastest human being to have likely ever lived in the history of the human race, and Fred may be the strongest.

Yeah i'm glad they added some other known Spartans in it, but yeah i agree that part was a little awkward... But I didn't expect them to be a lively bunch I pictured them more like that when they weren't around all Spartans.

Yeah it was different but they made that amour the way wanted it to look

Except 343i replaced the Covenant with the Storm.

The armour, the physical appearances, everything about the Covenant screamed "Storm" rather than "traditional" Covenant.

343i is trying to insert their vision of the Covenant client races while forgetting that at this time period... The Covenant looked different than the Storm.

I really Like that armour I thought it looked pretty sweet. It would have been cool to have the armour from Halo CE with a open Helmet on.

I thought the armour had more of rougher style look to it which I really like on them.

Still not canon.
That's like if the movie 300 had Spartans wearing steel armour instead of bronze. It didn't happen that way.

I hated the way the covenant had storm armor, and I hated the way they broke canon with him being called master chief.

He looks like master chief, has 117 on his chest and sounds like master chief, he could have just said call me John or something, but I guess they have to adhear to the kiddies who think that FuD takes place between H3 AND H4.

Ignorance is Bliss...Sometimes

Who are the new spartans? Spartan III's? Also they are no older than 15.

There are no "new" spartans in FuD. Although if you haven't read the books it might seem that way ;)

Fred, kelly and John (Master Chief) are the best military task force in the haloverse. If you want to know more, go order the books and read them :)

I thought the hunter looked sick. Also they did a good job on the energy sword. I was scared of it when I saw it. As for the story line it was pretty good. John's backflip to a backroll off the hunter in the end was nasty!!!

I enjoyed the series. If I see that it is representative of future halo films I would be willing to give them a chance.

I can only please one person per day.

Today isn't your day.

Tomorrow isn't looking too good either.

Its a nitpicky thing...but everything they messed up a simple military command or formality I flinched a little. Maybe its just because I've been around the military so much in my life.....but female officers are not "Sir". And "Right Turn" is not a command.

And the worst part? We already know this because the older Halo games establish this - Miranda was "Ma'am" in both Halo 2 and 3. So was Veronica. And the females in the books.

"Bs: Blame stosh for all of your BS!"

I thought it was going to be a massive flop to be honest. I was so incredibly glad that I was wrong though. The acting was great (or good enough anyways) and it really retained a kind of AMC network quality to it. It has tension, suspense, and energy throughout the whole series, not to mention reading The Thursday War makes it a lot more intriguing given Lasky is a part of that.

I mean, it had a good bit of narm and tropes to it, but it was pulled off so well and the cast just did a great job period for a mini-series. I'm really glad this series was done. It had such a great bit of entertainment value to it. ^_^

That said, I would be upset if they didn't carry on with more episodes of Halo live-series in the future. I think it's a great outlet to accomplish back stories that are too complex for the games or too taxing for the books. I really hope this continues and I'm really glad 343i is making use of how powerful the Halo title is.
