Carpet bans are a controversial topic, and they do take more time to carry out than just banning and lock the OP and warning everyone else.
But I think there are very obvious cases where they should be permitted, and this is one of them IMO.
There was a blatantly obvious warning at the top of the forum about leaks not being permitted (well, maybe not so obvious in its title until you click it). Then there is the fact it's mentioned in the rules that people are supposed to read when they sign up.
I'm not saying I'm the goody two-shoes who doesn't break a rule here or there, but if there's one thing I know it's to not bump a bad thread to the top of the forum.
There is just no reason to. If you're the first reply and there is something hidden in the OP, make your warning and then leave. It's the rest of the poster's responsibility to report the thread and not post in it.
We'd see more mature behavior like this if the account creation process was more thorough. Optimatch didn't have nearly as much problems because it required a linked tag.
