We've been here since you left.
We left before you came.

If we needed to go through the trouble to get everyone "out of the galaxy." We should just get the remaining friendly species in the galaxy to Earth aka the Ark, because everyone is safe their.

maybe been said but the halos don't kill flood, it kills their food

But'd I'd say that the best way to wipe them out is to bombard them from space, sending in infantry would just be stupid, and declare any uncertain areas a quarantine zone

Or just destroy the Flood that are awol and then abandon the remaining Halo's and eventually just destroy them.

If it were real life, we would probably use neutron bombs...

they kill organics and leave no physical destruction... but noooooooo, the future probably hasnt developed our already existing weapons.

dude do you even now what your talking about...

Well, as handy as an army of Spartans would be, the fictional humanity in this situation probably doesn't have an extra twenty years to spare.

I would try to engineer a sort of biovirus to use against them; they'd infect it, and it would trick their adaptive nature into fighting each other or self-destructing. I'm not sure what condititions you would need to simulate to convince them that self annihilation was the best solution, but I think one such scenario was explained in that episode of Evangelion- the one with the biomechanical nano-Angel.

Like i said before, find a "cure' for the Flood, like abandoning the Halo's.

Well, the Flood are definitely extremely necessary for something in the Universe; like 343GS said, more or less "The Forerunner(s) continued existence as a race depended on them". I've got a whole theory on that concerning Lysogenics and stuff, but I don't have the link handy...

  • 06.28.2006 2:16 AM PDT

Quick as a razor, sharp as a bullet.

lysogenics?

getting rid of the flood is easy. destroy all the halos.
and if the forerunners needed the flood, who cares, they are dead.

using covernant like some of you have said wouldn't work cause in case you havent played halo1 or 2 you spend most of the time killing the covernant even when your one of them.

i say send in some squads of spartans and A.I's to infected planents strapped with bombs that go off when their heart stops so they can't get infected.

thats why we need to reproduce ALOT.

Give everybody shotguns. Slowly but Surely we will wipe out the flood. What the hell do we need Halo for anyway?

Obviously there is some further threat to the flood than we have seen so far.

Seeing as how the forerunners had armor and armaments that made the master chief's armor be considered lower than substandard equipment I think it's safe to say that conventionally the forerunners could have obliterated the flood.

Which means that there must be some further threat that they pose that just burning or bombing can not stop. Perhaps any flood infestation of civilian centers could be the problem (although the forerunners were able to always defeat the flood in combat they still managed to get a fw infection forms onto their planets and thus wipe out their civilization etc.) Or perhaps there is some further threat such as their spores. Who knows what the hell kind of situations can arrise when the flood completely terraform a planet to suite their requirements. 343 GS said that the MCs' suite would work well for protecting him when thr flood began to change the atmosphere, perhaps they are able to do so quite quickly and easily and thus make planets uninhabitable within a day or two. I would say that is something that could prevent any military might from making a difference if even a small group can move in and screw up your planet in a few weeks while you have to try and find them.

Hell you saw how in just under an hour after in amber clad crashed the flood had half of highcharity covered in spore pods on the walls and numerous areas were filled with what looked to be like atmospheric altering gasses of some sort. Hell only a little while after that gravemind himself felt this new environment was both safe enough and comfortable enough for him to come out and strech aroudn the entire place. And this is a well guarded military holy site, not how long do you think naything can really stand up against the flood if even a single infection form could multiply to over a few thousand in just a few days.

Really I don't think the games every really depicted just howe deadly the flood are. They send them at us like berzerker zombies and the MC has no trouble blasting through them but really agaiunst all but the MC they are unbeatable.

They say cockroach is the only ones who would survive a Nuclear detonation...perhaps flood does it too.

I would say fire is the best way.
Organic get owned by fire :P

Mr. Pink has some great points

i think the flood is just that: a flood.

once its released you kinda cant stop it.........its a virus

it spreads waaaay to fast and too quickly for conventional warfare

glassing ( napalming the surface of the planet so its reduced to a flat, lifeless surface) each planet..........wouldnt really help......the flood is smart too, and they know how to survive

and if the omnipotent forerunner couldnt do it, how can we?

thats why we should all join hands and be vaporized by the divine wind that is halo.........its firey breeze will wisp our bodies away into microscopic dust as we embark on the great journey.......*shudders*

The flood can subvert machinery as easily as biomass- look in the cockpits of the crashing Pelicans in High Charity and you'll see blobs of Flood organics merging with the controls. Same thing happened on the Truth & Reconciliation, a proto-version of what Gravemind is was merging with the ship's bridge controls.

You all might want to check out the Halo.bungie.org Story page sometime. Good stuff.

Give me a Xbox controller, a gallon of soda, lots of doritos (taco flavor please) and 24 hours and your flood will be gone. But I will need that check for my services in advance, I dont want you to die without paying me now do I.

All we need to do is instead of using plasma power for everything, why don't we just use Energy Swords for everything? They seem to wipe out the Flood pretty quickly.
