Welcome to the club, dude. Lag has been around since online gaming, and nobody is a big fan of lag. It's horrible when everybody warps all over the place, but even worse in Halo PC, due to the horrible netcode.

Let's hope there won't be as much lag as in H2 PC.

Holy.. are you serious?

You can't lag in campaign, because you're not using the internet while you're playing by yourself! Duh. Now, if you mean that the game runs slower, which would be a more apt term, as in your framerate drops, that's normal. Everybody gets it. Even more so in campaign, because the levels are bigger than the multiplayer maps, hence the "Loading..." signs every once in a while. With your computer handling snow falling, enemies firing, allies returning fires, throwing grenades, while ghosts and pelicans and explosions are going on, there's bound to be a drop in the framerate. Everybody gets it, and only the top-of-the-line computers can play it on the most graphically intensive missions without a drop in framerate.

that must mean that my computer is better than most, because the only time i have "lag" is during the loading.i have never had a problem with anything but the loading areas.and the game itself takes forever to start, plus my screen is off centered, but i will have no problem fixing that when i change the settings.

What? Play a game? FOR FUN???
This concept of fun confuses and infuriates me!

Join the club dude. I have a dell too. But my PC rarely slows down during campaign ever. What baffles me is that I can play campaign hours on end, and never have an issue, but after a few games online, my PC freezes up and wont respond.
Halos minimum requires 128 megs ram, right? I have 256.
My PC doesnt like that. Not online anyway. The big kicker is Halo CE. I can have that run online hours on end, and never freeze on me, and it rarely lags.
I think PC has a bug in it that causes the game to crash after so long... It was doing for a while, then stoped crashing on me for like 5 hours at a time.
Then started up again. The longest I can go for is about 5 games in one server before a freeze up, and on bungie servers, just one game will kill it.
I just wish that Bungie would have fixed that issue, or let someone else do it for them.

HAHA, oh man, go to a dead hunter, hit it's back repeatedly with melees and watch your framerate drop. Walk away and look at it, no drop, walk twards it and look down, huge drop.

Wait, you have that problem too conman? I don't have a Dell, but that problem arose a few times.

Well, there you go. Dude, don't get a dell.

I would suggest trying to upgrade your RAM, processor, vidcard, or all three if need be. Doesn't seem like you have enough of one of them to handle Halo properly.

And as for H2PC, if you're planning on getting that...well...I would suggest considering a new computer.

As far as I know, that is a processing problem. Your most likely just bogging down your processor, and Dell isn't the best manufacturer. Try closing any other programs, and turning down your video settings. Also, turn down the audio settings as well.

Don't bother with the hunter, do it with elites. Purple blood splurts everywhere everytime you melee, and the framerate gets ridiculously low as layer upon layer of fresh blood hits the surrounding environment. Overlapping layers of blood on the surrounding area takes alot of power to run, so don't be surprised when you melee an elite a dozen times and the framerate drops.

My PC never crashes, ever, while playing Halo PC, and just for that I love it.

"Lag" is a broad term for sluggish computer performance, even though it is a word that is most commonly used in online games.

Anyways, a number of things could be influencing your game's performance. If you want to improve your system you have a number of options, here are just a few; buy a new video card, more RAM, a new processor. An free/easy solution would be to just turn down your video resolution in game.

Perhaps you could post your system specs?

Well this is probably not going to work but you could try overclocking your GPU, unfortunatly dells bois is locked so no CPU over clocking and i feel special since i can run halo and half life 2 at the same time ^_^, BTW if you ever decide on another pc, build it that way you know what your getting and you know it can be overclocked and upgraded. Trust me its easy... BTW aleinware is owned by dell XD

I over clocked my AMD 64 bit 3000+ 1.8 cpu to 2.0ghz though now it runs at 49C originaly it ran at 38C

Alright guys when I first got Halo over 18months ago I actually beleived the minimum requirements that were listed on the box. This is what I played thru my first campaign with:

PIII 850Mhz CPU
256MB of RAM
40GB IDE drive
64MB GeForce2 card

The campaign played fine. The multiplayer was a little different. Because I had a cable connection it played OK. However when I got into a chaingun fight or fighting with several players at once it would start to skip bad. This was a limitation of the processor and memory. I thought Blood Gulch was a dirt canyon.

A year ago I get this:
ASUS A8N-E 939 Socket motherboard
AMD Athalon 64 3000+ CPU
80GB SATA drive
512MB Dual Channel Corsair XMS 2-2-2-6 memory w/ platinum heat spreaders
Asus NForce 6600 256MB GPU

I joined a game in Blood Gulch and nearly fell out of my chair. It was gorgeous; green grass, red clay walls. OMG what have I been missing.

The game can be played on lesser systems but you really need to see this game as it should be seen.

I have fancy computer and an Xbox 360. You ever play Xbox Live?

I remember when I first got my computer, but before I got the GeForce 6600, it had a 5500. Still, Blood Gulch was absolutely georgous. Green grass! Blue skies! Gasp! Sometimes all I do is look at the ground to admire the nicely textured grass with my pistol, or sometimes I just sit on the cliffs admiring the clear, sunny sky.

All righty, then. Everybody, whenever I trash-talked to people on Xfire on how I'd pwn them in HPC, that was just me messing around. I'm actually quite horrible at HPC, but all the stuff that I said about pwning you all in Halo 2 PC wasn't.

Now, to add VELOCITY 7070 to my friend's list.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Directx9.0 video card makes a big difference with Halo! The bump mapping is simply incredible for a "old" game. My original PC for Halo couldn't handle it very well either. Back in the day, this game was the most demanding thing out, so much so that anti-aliasing wasn't even supported and still isn't!

People who play Xbox come over and see Halo @1600x1200 and are blown away with how beautiful it is. Say what you want about the netcode, the graphics was an absolute home run.

Hey, what gives? I have direct x 9 and here people are saying graphics are counting on what type of direct x you have, I mean I can only run 30 FPS on direct x 9!
