Subject: It would be a serious bummer to be a Mod right now.

You are all constructs of my solipsist mind.

Who locks the leak threads? The mods.

They must always have everything spoiled because of their position. They always have to keep their eyes out for the spoilers, so that they can catch them right away. But in that process, they must sacrifice their own right to experiencing a story themselves. They take one for the team.

Thanks, mods, for keeping this site clean and helping the greater Bungie populace keep the stories intact for our own playthroughs.

Has there been a Halo game that hasn't been spoiled for the mods?

Mods have no obligation to moderate at any time. So if a moderator was really excited for H4 they could just leave and not come back until the 6th.

CE was unspoiled for me.

Every other one since then had leaks and kids posting spoilers.

*shrug* As wound up as people get wanting to know every detail and talk about every map, every function, every little thing possible before the game is released, IMO they are already spoiling themselves simply by shaking their presents.

But I am too old to get too wound up, or all that invested, so if someone tells me that Snape was a murderer, or that Gravemind really is Audrey 2 (which I've suspected all along), then they tell me. It's not like I can unhear something or that the bell can be unrung.

If anyone feels that they are in need of remaining unspoiled, then the interwebz are an unwise place to spend a lot of time. Especially in places where people will laughingly feed off of cries of anguish.

On that note, since Halo 4 isn't much of Bungie's business, what's the policy on that? I didn't really give enough of a damn to even look in to other game leaks in the Flood before.

By the way, Noble 6 kills Dumbledore.

Halo 4 spoilers are not allowed right now, as they are leaked content.

Rules say no leaks or spoilers, and the rules are very, very, general about it.

Stuff that sucks, item 3.

That's been our practice since forever. It doesn't matter if the leak or spoiler is of a Bungie-product or not. Spoiling sucks, and sharing/passing on leaked info sucks too (doubly so if it is copyright infringing).

Like I said, it's only ever really been an issue with Bungie products on Bungie.net.

This has been, life lessons with Uncle Recon.

Except the obligation to uphold their position and help keep it clean for everyone else.

That's a very wise view to have, Recon.

I wanted to laugh, but the organization of your post (reply on top, quote underneath) threw me off too much. Oh well, maybe next time.
Sounds suspiciously like a bad excuse.

I still haven't gotten a Halo game spoiled for me. The last thing that was spoiled for me was that Harry Potter book where Snape does you know what. But yes it would suck to be a mod in times like this.

  • 10.15.2012 9:44 PM PDT

Break down, every single one of you.

I think being a mod would be interesting. As for the spoilers part of the message, it depends on the person. Some people don't care about spoilers to much. Others, such as myself, hate having movie/shows/games/books we want to watch/play/read spoiled for us. So, I personally thank them.

Yeah, I don't suggest going there now. Though the ending is rather predictable.

I've had the ending of every major game and movie "spoiled" for me since I started moderating these forums. Not just Bungie games. Happens every time like clockwork.

Fortunately, there have been several times (in fact, more often than not I think) where the "spoilers" posted were outright wrong or b.s. speculation. You can never trust the trolls who post crap like this. Most of the time it's just some kid starved for attention who has no idea what the real ending is. So you can never really trust that you have actually been spoiled, and that's a good thing.

Still, spoilers, no matter how unreliable, give you premonitions. And those premonitions make you look at the story a different way than you otherwise would have. But I guess after being so used to having things "spoiled", the effect is lessened...

if a mod left until after Halo4 was released, they wouldnt be in any trouble at all.

they are not obligate to moderate. only to moderate effectively if they do choose to do so.

It actually seems like there are less mods on lately. I could be completely wrong about that, but I definitely see only 3 main ones posting currently.
