I doubt that would work.
And that is why you fail.

Nonetheless, the question is if you think it would be better to implement this now, or wait for the New Hawtness. I am unsure.

Discuss whether you think these ideas should be implemented immediately or wait for Bungie.net.
Are these the only two options they have? Shame, I would have picked an imaginary third option, "Leave it as it is".

I just saw a green monkey nut shot a small tan lizard(?) in a gunny sack.

Well, your first mistake was going to 343 to begin with...

As a B.ner user and Waypointer, I would gladly agree with this. I'm sick and tired of this happening, although it doesnt happen as often on waypoint.

Is this supposed to be satire? Because that's what I read it as.

  • 10.18.2012 7:31 AM PDT

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Oh maybe look at the 343i method where your account get suspended and you can't see the forums, your profile, your PMs, or anything. And, where the mods send you a PM about your ban but you can't read it because you get locked out of your profile.

Calm down and construct your sentences with a little more fluidity. I can hear the rage with which you type from Scotland.

Brilliant ideas Burrito.

I am just happy Bungie isn't retarded and even though you are banned you can still fully access your profile, groups, forums, and read PMs.

I think the idea of locking a person out of the site for the duration of their ban is a fantastic idea. Might hammer home the idea of following the rules a little more.

You obviously don't go on waypoint, it is blaming stupid.

You can't even read your ban messages, PM anyone, view any topics, or even access your profile.

A guest on the site can view a banned user better than the banned user himself.

It is a stupid system and makes resolving these conflicts impossible, they basically hold your account hostage. I am glad Bungie realizes how dumb this is and did not do it when making the site.

Maybe the user should've thought of that before getting banned.

And actually, I have been on Waypoint, it's stupid enough on its own to make me avoid using it, and not whatever 'stupid' ban system they have in place.

The problem lies with the banned user themselves, its their fault they got banned. Stop -blam!-ing about how the site is run, of course b.net is better moderation wise, but does that give you the right to -blam!- and complain about another person's site especially when b.net has been around longer than Waypoint has? hm..?

I don't really think that these ideas are all that great. A secret banning system would just cause users to be irratated and confused, and the extra loading times based on being banned would be unfair if the user didn't get banned for spamming the website. As for the loading times being increased for everyone, as you said, this would irratate everyone, and that wouldn't be a good thing.

I don't think anyone ever posts anything and assumes they will get banned unless they are a troll.

Another thing I like about Bungie is the mods here are usually reasonable, intelligent people. But on 343i, you get banned for saying bad things against 343i and Halo 4. Any negativity is quickly suppressed, the thread about 343i lying to their customers was quickly locked along with every other complaint thread about Halo 4.

Bungie doesn't do that, they can actually take criticism and they listen to their fans, (They also don't lie and screw them over) which is why I am still here. Plus Bungie.net has a really simple and efficient UI, thanks webteam.

The thing about Waypoint is there is absolutely no effort in it's design and the actual staff do not seem to care at all.

The employees respond to their fans on "Neogaf" 100x more often than on the official forums.

The site has a lot of bugs that have never been fixed and show no sign of being fixed.

The site can't handle that much traffic.

It just seems like a slap in the face to people using them because how little effort went into it. At least Bungie shows signs they care and tries to fix the site. If Bungie.net goes down, there are people who will fix it really fast.

If 343i goes down, lol good luck with that.

It's actually not hard to read and abide by the rules of a site. Again, if the user posted something that was against the rules of the site and they got banned, there's no excuse for them. They knew the rules. Again, the problem doesn't lie with the site, it's the users getting banned. Maybe if banned users spent more time realizing that their posting was against the rules instead of complaining about the rules, they'd be better off.

But making the site suck more does not help anyone.

I think people should be able to read why they were banned, ask the mods about it, and be able to access their profiles on the site.

Isn't that what the purpose of a ban message is? I'd allow for a direct correspondence with moderators, but that's it. A banned user has no rights to demand what he should and shouldn't have access to for the duration of his ban. He should spend more effort into not getting banned.

Communist.
A secret banning system would just cause users to be irratated and confused,... The people getting those bans are the people we WANT to confuse and irritate. Hence the point.

and the extra loading times based on being banned would be unfair if the user didn't get banned for spamming the website. For the greater good. If a person is too selfish to sacrifice for the sake of the community as a whole, then they are also the ones we wish to irritate so they'll go away. Selfish jerks.

As for the loading times being increased for everyone, as you said, this would irratate everyone, and that wouldn't be a good thing.Yes it would be.

No one wants a horribly slow, dumbed down site. I was using a real world example for you.
