Alts dude, alts. They ruin your second idea already.

The first one is just stupid though, it makes no logical sense at all.
The second idea PREVENTS alts from being a problem. You clearly missed the entire point.

The first idea is genius and stops spamming efficiently. No doubt it it would be effective. At all.

Posted by: TrussingDoor
The latter idea is cruel and unfair. Like, why would you do that to someone? It'd just lead people to pointlessly spend time writing things that nobody would ever read. The current system is fine. We don't need sadistic punishments.
It would not be typical. It is a matter of banning intentional asshats and spammers. In which case there is absolutely no downside whatsoever.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

What is wrong with the Waypoint forums exactly?

They are perfectly fine, apart from all the 12 year olds.

Im sure its not this way for everyone, but a common complaint and one i share as well is how slow it runs. When i type on way point, more often then not I type faster then the forum can handle and the words wont show up or they do later on when they feel like it.

Too much white, too much wasted/empty space, too much space wasted on "X users thanked this user for this post, here's a list of all of them", etc.

I know, right? I was distracted by the fact that over 600 people have thanked SK15 and that he has 1,385 posts I forgot to read the thread he had posted in.

I got distracted by the silly awards posters get. Thought I'd stumbled into the HuffPo comments section for a moment.

I'm still amazed how only a single poster has made the on topic reply as the answer to the question in the first post. And it's funny how nay-sayers have no reasoning. I challenge you all to a battle. I know come November 6th I shall vote for the man that has spilled the most blood with his bare hands.

Myself. And I encourage you all to do the same. That goes for you too, Europe and Canada people.

1. I'll have you know, UOs can never get hurt. We are inconceivable!

...

That may have come out wrong.

2. Burritoego sounds like some horribly vile butter substitute.

Centuries ago at the dawn of the age the idea was put forth to have 'secret bans.' A moderator bans a user, but that user can still post, PM, make threads, what have you. In fact, that user is never even told he is banned. He continues as normal except... nobody can see his posts or threads any longer, except moderators. This could be extended to include the page load times. Just... make it take longer. Trick the computer into thinking it's loading when in reality it truly is 'just you.' It's that easy. Just make code.
This sounds like a cruel, cruel joke. I love it.

Also, idea #2 is interesting.

Ask any question. I'll help with anything on site or off.

Users may dislike this idea, I can't say I completely agree with them, but there is always a positive in ideas. I believe your idea can work with a couple of shifts..

"A hero need not speak. When he is gone, the world will speak for him."

All counter-arguments to evolution are based on a gross misunderstanding of the theory.

If the logic behind option 2 is sound, shouldn't mythics get super extreme fast load times?

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

The "secret ban" part makes me feel...strange.

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

OP, how about limiting new members to post before they've invested a certain amount of time viewing/observing the forums? That way it would make it harder to create a profile just to spam, even though the profile will be banned.

Sadly this would inivitably punish those who are simply eager to ask and debate. The question is if it's worth it (?).

It might have been suggested before, but still..
