Now I'm not one of those paranoid freaks who fears that aliens will take over Earth and make human/alien hybrids, but I still believe that there is other intelligent life in the universe. There are millions of Earth-like planets out there, and perhaps alien life that lives in a totally different type of environment.

As for intelligent life in these forums....very slim chance.

in a sense i believe that there are living organisms but not like humans i believe that we should explore the ocean more before we get into space

Definatly. Its very hard to belive that out of the rest of the universe that there isnt another form of relativly intelligent form of life.

I think that somewhere out in the great expanse of the universe are several alien races. Out of those, there are undoubtedly several intelligent races (hostile or otherwise) which we may eventually make contact with. If we are the only intelligent life in the universe, I'd have to quote from Contact and say that "an awful waste of space."

I do believe there is life outside this planet, considering it happened here after constant bombardment from meteiorites(spelling?) for a billion years. On top of that comets and meterorites are full of amino acids, the building blocks of life. To say that there is no life what so ever in the universe is just stuborn and idiotic.

Considering the universe is practically infinate(and still growing), the chance that life only happened here is probably slim.

maybe somewhere out there, there are multicellualar organisms, with brains/nervous system, that are perhaps asking them selves the same question. Maybe they are less technologically advanced as us and unable to contact us, maybe there is an alliance of alien races who simply think were to primative and arent worth their time. No one knows

But if they have come in contact with us already, and the government is keeping it secret, it's probably due to humans would panic. The fact aliens exsisted would contradict almost every religion.

So i doubt were going to know the truth for a long time.

Agreed, aliens have to exist. Yes life on Earth is a very random event. It was amazingly lucky that a meteorite hit Earth and it was in this perfect orbit. But the universe is huge so even a 1 to a 10000000 is still very probable chance life exist somewhere else.

well i said yes but now i doubt it...i think "life" as we know it is too specific. perhaps there are other forms out there different from all others that we know of but still not life by our definition. in biology were talking about the "characteristics of life" which something has to have all of in order to be considered alive. but this is very specific to our planet. i dont think wed even be able to comprehend "life" on other planets until we saw it. in any case, i doubt very much that if there are "aliens" that they are as similar to humans as the covenant in halo...i think bungie noes this tho and i have a theory bout why were so similar but enough of that 4 now

Just a question, how would bombarding a planet suddenly create life? Does it go, POP! It's alive! No, I doubt it. How does the spark of life start, without the help of anything else living?

And yes, I do think there are other species out there. I hate it how all those movies make aliens so similar to humans. I highly doubt that any out there would even resemble humans slightly. They'd probably have different senses, and a completely different body.

Hmmm - Another Star-Trek reference is in order -- Genesis Project -- (STII-TWoK) A big enough change can create new particles and configurations of particles, Like a Nuclear bomb can actually create liquids at the center (CO2 and whatnot) they tend to quickly evaporate , but think of it on a cosmic scale -- Life can and probably is being created out of those tiny subatomic particles everyday -

I suppose, well, it should be possible. But, how would life start? You can have all the elements and correct molecules, but how does something just.... start living?

All life today is created by branching off something already living. A cell seperates into two, and they were already living. What I don't get, is: How did it start? How does a material suddenly start living?

I dunno -- but it's happened. That would be the hand of [Insert diety here] They just have to be in the right combination of molecules, and be given a kinetic charge. Poof life --? I don't really know to be honest with you.

Life is not random, nor by chance- how it came about and made is still up to the scientists, theorists and etc.. but the chances of life happening by accident are less than the chances of a shattered glass statue coming back together by itself in a box that is being shaken up all the time.

As for is life out there?;
Heck ya

Is any of it intelligent?;
Heck ya, a lot.

How much?;
More than the sands of the earth...

And that chance is impossible. Therefore, according to your logic, life is impossible. Yet we are here?
