Halo: Reach is the beginning of a new age for gaming.
It proves that developers can get away with punishing their players instead of fixing their game....and yet the fanboys will still sing praises to them.

-blam!- all of you fanboys!

It started with 2.

But Halo was big news back then. Big enough to overlook the problems inherent with matchmaking.

As time goes on and the glamour wears off.
People come to the conclusion that after playing on one stupid map in a playlist for 100 times. It's not worth it to play it 101 times.

That's why as time went on the quitting got worse.
People would rather play their "PREFERRED" map/gametypes of their choosing for the 101st time.

I had 1 playlist to choose from for my preferred.
You know how many times I actually got to play my preferred?
10% of the time.

Thank you matchmaking.

And why did I only get 10%
Because the new voting system.
Put up 3 options, make one of them basic slayer. and 90% of people vote for it.
Essentially, you play slayer 90% of the time no matter what playlist you are choosing.

If we had a server browser. I'd be playing CTF 100% of the time.

Your opinion is invalid.

I have that problem too. I search in Team Objective, but they just keep giving me Slayer.

On games with server browsers, and populations MUCH MUCH lower than what Halo had...

I always found someone out there hosting a game that was already in full swing hosting something that I preferred.

Now you're going to try to tell me with the 100,000 or better population of Halo that I can't find just 15 other people that have the same tastes as me?

I mean you must have grown up on nothing but matchmaking, to think that ... because you got put in the lobby with these people, that's it. That's your only option. because these people in this lobby that matchmaking found for you are the only ones willing to play with you. Nevermind the other 99,985 people out there looking for people to play with.

-blam!- that idea.

Let me tell you the difference between Matchmaking and a Server Browser.

They are nearly identical.

The only difference is.
Matchmaking gives you less filters. (You get a Playlists)
Matchmaking immediately picks the first server on the list.

That's it.

That's pretty much the difference.

I would rather have more filters and be able to choose a room from the list.

Imagine this...

A Server Browser environment in which the host can set a minimum rank required to join the room.

OH MY!!!!

But I guess people will boost, for the sole purpose of joining your room and getting their asses handed to them... right?

Setting a Rank Minimum to Join + Blacklisting controls = SUPERIOR TO TRUESKILL IN EVERY WAY!

When i said "why do you say that" i meant why do you think its a terrible halo game.

lol ... thought you were putting a case that it was a good multiplayer game.

The game would have done better if bungie had not tried to sell it as a halo game ... it was a cheap sell - much the same with ODST (and they didnt learn from that leason either).

It is like those cheap TV shows/movies - which take a character/name from a hit and start a cheap spin-off series.
Its a lazy act ... and 90% of the time that lazy start then follows into the final production.

Everyone expected better, what was left was the taste of disappointment. The way the games online numbers dropped only 2 weeks after launch showed that. People generally dont stop playing a game 2 weeks after buying it (and not one that cost top $$ at launch).
But literally how what killed it.What made it a bad Halo game

I agree with you on the CTF part such an underrated game type

Can we just have one universal list of different reasons why Halo Reach didn't live up to our expectations?

Nothing is more tragic than seeing Vahalla Heavies veto'd because the people you're playing with toppled head first down stairs too many times during development.

"Oh, Sandbox CTF. . . Yay. . ."

An ambitious game with seemingly good theoretical concepts that were unfortunately either not fully realized or executed poorly

Also rushed and somewhat not what the community wanted.

Honestly, this is a good cover up for all the idiots who won't know its a cover up .

Campaign was not as good as H3, but everything else was way better.

I like it. I dislike the campaign

Name's John. I'm a 21-year-old firefighter/EMT from lolhio who doubles as a die-hard Halo fan. I've been enjoying the franchise since 2001. My favorite iteration of Halo would have to be Halo 2 simply because I never got to experience the joy of a full-on Halo: CE LAN.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Oh yeah, and boot Zome.

Decent standalone game. Godawful Halo game.

Who is this?! LOL

I intend to live forever, or die trying,

so far, so good.

I guess, it was very different from Halo 3.

My oppionion is that Halo 3, was a much better game for MM.

But I have played over 4000 games of REACH and still enjoy playing REACH. Only a few things in REACH annoy me, other than those few things.

REACH is still a great game.

  • 10.22.2012 7:05 PM PDT

It was more fun before I reached Inheritor. I love Grifball.

More accurate: they ran out of time and went with a smaller idea.

Bungie clearly had big plans for Reach. But when they realized they wouldn't have enough time to implement it, they just gave up on it and went with something smaller, something mediocre.

It's a lot like The Asylum. Reach's story was original, but it was just sub par compared to the FoR. Also, if it weren't for that Halo title, it wouldn't have been nearly as well known...

It's much worse as a standalone game, due to the lack of changes in the settings and options.

Halo 4 looks like it's going the same way in this respect. Where the hell is revert to second last checkpoint? Individual save and quit? Modifiers that don't just make the game harder (they don't have to be skulls. They could be something else)?

Halo is progressing too slowly. It took Halo 10 years to receive in-game subtitles. Wow...

Not sure, but CNWade16 may just be a forum eliza program - based on his level of indepth level of questions.
