Subject: Bungee is WRONG about Skimrishers

Well, the rest of their anatomy would be able to analyse and understand the environment at those speeds. Their eyes would be able to collect more information, their brains will be able to process the sight information quicker, their arms/wrists muscles will be extremely strong and quick to respond.

Can you actually imagine the intended vision for Skirmishers..? They would be freakin awesome!! I wish they had stuck with what they had actually intended for Skirmishers to be...
Yeah, even on legendary they weren't that hard to deal with.

The closest thing I can imagine is Legendary Firefight with all Skirmishers and then making player movement slower.

You are a visionary...That would create a great "Hollywood" moment. Some sort of time dilation every time Skirmishers are on screen would have been awesome. Definitely more exciting than most of the cut-scenes in the rest of the game.

I came for Halo, but I heard the Tru7h, fought thru Carnage, and stayed for Bungie.

Verification needed. Learn to read OP.

THIS. OP, you have based your whole argument on an unreferenced statement that was obviously BS'd by a random anonymous internet-goer.

Skirmishers being the dominant Covenant race?

The HELL you are! These are precious gifts to me and they are non-transferable! How dare you regift my challenge prize. You might as well hock a wedding ring for beer money. -DeeJ

It says verification needed OP... Ignorant OP is ignorant.

Easter Egg Hunter. Apprentice Tricker/Glitcher (learning from Grumpy and Sliding Ghost).

Trying to get Waypoint to update Halo 3 stats in detail like here. Now no one can see that my Halo 3 Spartan no longer looks like my Reach Spartan.

Really want to be a Heroic member or have a title. :/

To prove it someone can use the mod in ghost's link to become a skirmisher and a jackal. Then have them race a three way with a warthog as the third to measure the speed. I always wanted to see some kind of kig-yar be able to melee. I thought that skirmishers would finally make that happen but I was wrong.

Tag 'm and Bag 'm

Yeh... because they can run 150mph doesn't mean they can survive an impact with a Spartan at 150mph. I think they will just splatter on the shield/armor.

I still think Skirmishers are complete bollocks, and I don't consider them a Covenant race. They make no sense - why did they all go extinct after Reach's fall?

Clearly, they became too annoying and spartan death squads hunted them out of existence.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

Bungie didn't make that wiki. All wiki's are fanbased to my general knowledge.

And just because the Skirmishers are fast does not mean they are smart enough to hunt in packs like a Cheetah. How can you even compare the two? The only thing they have in common is that they run quicker than most.

for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. If a skirmisher ran into a Spartan the skirmisher is going to take just as much damage as the Spartan. The Spartan also has shields, which recharge, where as a skirmisher would be doing serious damage to his body. You would also need a pretty long head start.

Dude, Usain bolt can run, like, 40 mph or something. The same cant be said for the rest of the human race though. The skirmisher was probably one of the fastest of its species, and it probably took while to accelerate.

PS
Judging by your 4th paragrah you dont now -blam!- about the halo canon. Jackals are a pirate ish race. When they found the covenant and joined, they only did it to leech off the covenant and keep there race alive. They dont give a turd about covenant bieliefs or anythig. Same goes for skirmishers.

Well John managed 105kph briefly..... and the books clearly say that Elites are as fast as Spartans and that Brutes are even faster so it makes sense that a Skirmisher could be even faster. It does sound a bit fishy though..... but I don't really consider Halo as hard sci-fi so I think its ok to let a few minor details slide.

It's funny because the skirmisher AI acts just like a jackal on steroids, except that they took all the good AI part out of normal jackals for skirmishers and added nothing.

Previous jackals dodged bullets, vehicles, and grenades. Previous jackals moved around quickly. Previous jackals could actually aim well.

But the lobotomized reach versions are only capable of doing three things.

-Occasionally dodging needles
-Occasionally shooting
-Primarily walking forward slowly past you in a straight line

Reach Jackals are the epitome of being a bullet sponge.

And skirmishers are just overrated pallet swaps meant to act like drones on land.
*claps slowly*

Thank you for this. This had to be said.

Reach Jackals are nothing but equivalents of the also-nerfed marines.

In fact, you could easily categorize practically every AI in Reach in just 3 categories (excluding Brutes, their "berserking" is laughably pathetic, excluding Engineers, which rarely move or respond to being shot at, and excluding Drones, which were the best they've ever been).

Moving ammo: militiamen, marines, Grunts
Moving shield: Jackals, Hunters, Noble Team
Moving annoyances/hazards: Elites, Skirmishers, civilians, Guta, Noble Team

Nearly all of them were damage sponges. Why the -blam!- does it take more than half an AR clip to kill any Grunt higher than a Grunt Minor?

Reach was merely a gauntlet, a race to the finish line, only to be impeded by waiting enemies, unskippable cutscenes, or you were forced to hold position because your allies took too long to help.

Why do you preach false science and bow to wiki-lore?
To say that a skrimisher colliding with a spartan at full speed would have a 'reaction' is an understatement beyond reason and forgivness.
The 'reaction' would be disaster to a Hiroshima scale. The destruction would be unmeasurable; the death toll uncountable; the aftermath incomprehensible; the fallout undesirable.
Also, this thread was designed to debate, judge and, if possible recreate, the idea of a skirmihser hitting a HUMAN at full speed. If we throw spartan skeletal structure, armour, sheilds, witts and confidence into the equation this thread becomes in danger of unveilling terrifying results, theory and further madness.

I went over this a few posts back, and you agreed with me and said the ramming tactic perhaps wasn't the best tactic.

This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends;
Not with a bang but a whimper.

I'm calling this one on a technicality. They very well could have reached speeds up to 150mph while running. So could you. Picture this: you are running at a leisurely pace of about 6mph. You then through a professional punch at 144mph. Boom. Your fist has reached speeds of up to 150mph. Your fist is part of you, therefore you have reached speeds up to 150mph.

  • 10.28.2012 1:28 PM PDT

Speed = Distance/ Time...

Throwing a punch does not affect your distance travelled, no matter how fast it has been thrown. Distance is calculated by the amount of ground covered by the rear end of one's body... long jumpers' distance is measured by where their back hand hits the sand... in ball games, such as football, the back of the ball must travel over the line before it is considered a goal.

If throwing a punch does not affect your distance, it cannot influence your speed...
