Subject: The most annoying thing on this forum.

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

It doesn't seem like too much of an issue. I will sometimes jump into a thread and read some quick quote pyramids to get a good feel of how the discussion is going.

I honestly don't mind about the multiple quotes. As long as it doesn't exceed more than five quotes, I'm good.

This. It also helps keep track of who the reply was meant for. I like quote tags and id hate to see them go.

But with just one quote tag you'd still be able to see who the reply was meant for, it isn't rocket science.

Every other forum I go on doesn't have quote tags that stack up and that is a far better system.

I obviously can't speak for everyone, but I personally have never visited a forum with better fluidity, better replying/quoting system, or better visual appeal... And this is considered outdated in their minds (the web team).

What you're basically saying is this site isn't like everyone else's, so it's bad... That logic is damn worthy.

You ask keep saying "every other forum you go on". As I asked last time, please link these forums so we know what you're comparing this to.

I am a Floodian

I actually don't mind the quote tags. I've also seen other forums that remove quote tags allow you to see the entire thread when you are posting, so you are able to look back on the entire forum. Instead of just being able to look back on the post that you replied to.

"If you treat people right, they will treat you right - ninety percent of the time."
-Franklin D. Roosevelt

"No soldier should be honored for doing what is expected."
-John-117

The five quote limit allows clutter to not be an issue. Following a conversation isn't such a demanding task, as most people around here don't type up essays with each post.

Because it's quicker to type > than type out [quote]['/'quote] every time you want to address a particular line/point in somebody's text.

It's not so much about urgency, it's just a simpler way to do it. Add on to this that many other forums use > as a quote sign & it makes sense as to why people use it.

I didn't feel like saying "This current situation is taking place in a "Like" feature thread" or "Someone who is viewing this thread sees this post on the 5th page".

I rarely use shorthand, but here it worked (especially with the format of the rest of the post in that it was all meant to set up a situation rather than describe an idea or narrative).

He asked this:Is definitely the quote tags, why do they have to stack up?
And this:
Can they not be removed?

If he was just stating his opinion and we weren't allowed to disagree, then this thread wouldn't have any discussion value and it'd get locked.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

When there are multiple posts in your quote, they help to sort them so it is easier to read. That's why they're here.

It is somewhat clean, as it reduces the clutter from quoting multiple posts individually without taking too much space.

This takes up alot of space

And is a mess to read

Besides, after an incident a while back, quote pyramids are limited to 5 layers, which is compact and easy to read.

the quote stacking and limit helps make the site look more organized. What makes the site look more cluttered is posts that leave the gap above the quote box without having text above it.

You're the first person that I've seen who hates the quote system. I myself am fine with it, but I guess it's all about what you prefer. Unfortunately for you, you're the minority, so I highly doubt that it will change any time soon.
