I don't consider it a pointless complaint at all, I am merely acting in the general wellbeing of the site itself as I believe it to be a potential improvement.

What if we were debating a thread on say, Gun Laws? We would need the multiple quote tags from the other person we're debating with so that we may quickly refresh our memory on what exact details they have spoken and what we've spoken.

Reason being? We don't become hypocritical and we see the multiple facts they've laid out.

Just taking their recent quote tag doesn't help aid the conversation very much, especially if the debate is heated.

You ask keep saying "every other forum you go on". As I asked last time, please link these forums so we know what you're comparing this to.

Well I don't actually go on many forum but I will list the ones which I do and have a single quote tag system.

Wrestlingforum.com
MajorLeaguGaming.com
Halo.xbox.com
Halocouncil.com

I don't visit any forums which have a quote system like this, contrary to what people are saying it does cause clutter, I hope they fix it.
H.X.C. has a quote system exactly like this one.

Troll confirmed. I never even insulted you

OP - You're a dumbass with the reading comprehension skills of a second grader.

Can someone tell me what's wrong with these two, this made me LOL hard.

The OP would have a hernia if he saw how bad quote pyramids were back in the day. That was annoying. Funny, but annoying. The ones here today aren't as bad as the one that was in the Optimatch forum.

Кланяються мені!

I think the quote system here is fine. Cluttered quotes because of multiple conversations are resulted from members going off topic. But human nature aside lets say we did have an improved quote system. What would improve clutter caused by intersecting conversations, but not hinder appropriate on topic discussion?

Maybe there isn't one. I think this is a decision of fashion over function. When it comes down too it, the community seems to agree in favor of the current system. A little clutter from time to time doesn't break the system.

You look around. You fire your weapon before you realize.
Its just me. I fall and you walk up. You cry why.
When i pop up. You look at me in wonder. I say,"ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL."
You bend to my will and go to a cliff, walk off, and fall.
The last thing you hear is me stating as fact,"All will fail the battle of life, you just went early"

It really is not all that bad. It helps to follow a conversation between two people if you weren't there for the conversation. And the limit is 5, so it cannot even get that out of hand. Furthermore, it helps your case if you don't insult users, let alone users with far more experience than you.
5 long posts all bunched together is definitely out of hand if you ask me.
Most users will cut out one of the responses after two or three nested quotes.

Nobody does that on the flood.

This is a false statement as I've done it myself as have other people.

Also your guilty of quote nesting right now. The reason it does so is that all quoting does is place quote tag around the previous post. That includes any other quote tags that were in said post. If you don't want it to be quoted together that much then cut out the other ones. Simple as that.

Now that you've read down to here to see what I replied to, you can scroll back up to read what I replied, and then you can scroll back down here again to write your own reply. Scrolling is fun and you can too!

The most annoying thing on this forum is that 30 seconds you have to wait between posts.

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

@ OP, stop using it if you don't like it. You've utilized them more than once on this thread alone, doesn't that mean that the quote stacks fulfill their purpose?

The sound of iron shocks is stuck in my head, The thunder of the drums dictates
The rhythm of the falls, the number of dead's the rising of the horns, ahead
From the dawn of time to the end of days I will have to run, away
I want to feel the pain and the bitter taste of the blood on my lips, again

Pointless post signatures

  • 10.23.2012 11:56 AM PDT

Per Audacia Ad Astra

While you make the a mildly understandable point, it is difficult for other users to 'jump' into a discussion when you must search through a myriad of posts to identify who said what and why the next post is quoting it.

I'm not fond of reading through pages of posts should the page count go beyond 4, so it makes sense for there to be quote stacks on the most recent replies so I can understand the flow of conversation without searching through each page.
