Down, down to hell and say that I sent you there...
I came into the world with my legs forward and a woman cried "he was born with teeth!"
"I had no father I am like my father...I had no brother I am like my brother...And this word, "love" which old farts call divine be resident in men like you -blam!-. But not in me, I am my mother-blam!- self, alone."
You Are an Idiot

Ok, i was thinking a while ago that the forerunners should have a little mor e attention the forum. So any theories you have regarding the Forerunners, their intentions, what we'll see of them in h3 just feel free to share your thoughts.
I tried to post it...and I got idiots polluting the threads. But I'll post it here one last time:
Perhaps, somewhere in the history of time, the Forerunners used our planet as some kind of sanctuary or getaway, so to speak. They might have even used it as a laboratory. I don't know, but I'm thinking that the Forerunners are responsible for the evolution of humanity. Whether it had to do with the Flood or not, the Forerunners evolved humanity and we treated them as gods. That could be the reason why the ruins on Delta Halo look eerily similar to different ruins here on Earth.
So when the Forerunners started losing the battle against the Flood, they decided they would fire off the rings. And they took humanity, which probably wasn't but maybe a couple million, if that, and put them into the Ark. After the Flood was gone, humanity came out of the Ark and ventured off into the wilderness. Well you notice that all of the lush gardens and forests surrounding the object. Whether it's the Ark itself or not, perhaps that is what we could call the Garden of Eden?
And eventually, for whatever reasons, humanity lost the knowledge of the Ark but it was still in our minds, somewhere sublemenally. And that's how Chief was able to activate all of the different mechanisms and machines on Halo. Would also explain why we were called the reclaimers. The Forerunners knew eventually that humans would discover space travel and would eventually look to the stars.
