Why not have thread approval for all "normal members" (only when spoilers/leaks start or just before a new game)

Assuming heroic and above wouldn't want permas.

When the mods come on they can approve threads?

I know it is a bit unfair but is it a price worth paying to not see spoilers?
I support this, we could also get rid of so many troll threads. But that would mean a lot more work for ninjas, I don't think they would like this.

Or new members shouldn't be able to create threads for like 7 days/weeks/months/years. I think something like this would be good.

I volunteer my services. I can start effective immediately. Seriously though, considering over half the flood is made up of members, they might not take kindly to that.

It should really be based on join date. They have to be a member of the septagon for a certain amount of time until they are able to make threads.

It's not a bad idea. One of the few ones that I think should be implemented when the New Hawtness (I hate kittehs) finally comes. But I know a lot of trolls on the flood are members who have been here for months and some even years. This is where counter leaking would come into play.

I doubt that, that would work. Any one can make an alt today and use it for h5 etc etc.

If this happened trolls would just make a ton of alts the day it changes so they can use them in the future. Anyway not allowing people to post for a year is a bit unfair.

I just thought though it won't stop username spoilers so maybe once leaks start new users have to be approved too?

But then we have comments too. We can't do much about that though. Stopping people from comments is very unfair.

Idk it's alot of effort for not much. It's hard to avoid them everywhere you go. Honestly I don't care if the game is spoiled for me. If people don't want it spoiled then don't use places where they are obiously going to be.

The mods could use alts to post the counter spoilers just to get people off track.
If persons like spoilers or not is diffrent per person and per game. With some games I don't mind to check the entire story before playimg the game myself but for other games I like it to be a complete mystery.

Indeed, I thought I had insert the quote but apparently I have forgotten.
Still if you let mods have alts to spread the spoilers this idea could work, since that way people have no way to tell if a leak is true or not. The problem is that people may get dissapointed if the fake spoiler isn't in the game at all. The fake spoilers can have some great ideas after all.

Hi I'm RT and I like to argue!

This is a terrible idea. It's difficult to imagine anyone believing a mod posted leaks, when that's a huge violation of not only the forum rules but also of Bungie's trust. They could use alts, but then they're just adding to the problem.

  • 10.23.2012 8:04 AM PDT

As soon as there is a confirmed leak you should just turn on member queues and make the website not accept anything that would be a spoiler. i.e if won't let you post it.

I remember people in the Harry Potter community used to post fake spoilers everywhere to help cover up the real spoilers. It actually saved me from getting spoiled for Deathly Hallows.

So no, it would be a horrible idea

Is it possible to call a thing a thing if nobody nowhere has ever done that thing? In which case, yes. This is "like that thing".

Break down, every single one of you.

No. That is an ineffective method and will just be another form of spamming. You should read this. It basically covers anything that you need to know about posting spoilers on this site.

Progo, Shrew, Chryso, all are the same.

sounds like a fun idea, but I think the mods shouldn't be posting with their orange text, rather they should be using alts, that way new members don't underestimate their authority.

I've played a few games of Civilization and I don't think this works.
