Back to Halo 3. Wake me up when Halo Reach can live up to its full potential!

CoRaMo said that this forum is the right place for this thread, it's originally from the Flood.

John-117 (Master Chief) is in 2525 fourteen years old. Forward Unto Dawn takes place around 2525, when they first come in contact with the Covenant. The big question is: "Even though he had his augmentations, why would ONI sent out 14 year old, unexperienced SPARTAN-II's into battle against highly trained, battle-tough Elites?

The HELL you are! These are precious gifts to me and they are non-transferable! How dare you regift my challenge prize. You might as well hock a wedding ring for beer money. -DeeJ

Well they have to start somewhere.

Puberty was artificially induced before augmentation, he had the body of an Olympic adult athlete before any drugs were pumped into it. Now he's far beyond what any human can naturally do, even at 14.

Forward Unto Dawn is actually in 2526; he's 15 at this time. He's got 9 years worth of intensive training unlike any other under his belt, the best equipment money can buy, and multiple successful strikes against Insurrectionists and against Covenant forces.

Why the hell wouldn't ONI send him against Elites?

  • 10.21.2012 11:16 AM PDT

I am alpha, i am omega.

I am the last of the primes.

A 10 year old Proto-spartan (spartan before his augs) would beat the -blam!- of out any odst.

So a 15 year old fully fledged spartan in Mark 4 Armour is hyper-deadly.

This sums it up nicely. Besides they are the best soldiers around, despite their age.

Age =/= skill.

OP, are you forgetting that he managed to successfully beat up (and kill 2) three ODSTs in a three on one match before his teenage years?

Don't get me wrong ODST's are awesome, but when you got everything this guy described above I would send him in.

Basically.

Give any Spartan a gun. He'll rip apart an army, given enough time.

I really hope that's hyperbole.

No such Spartan has ever achieved something even remotely close to that feat.

A squad of, say, 10 Spartans could do it. Or come close to it but a lone Spartan? No.

It also depends on how big the army is.

A Battalion? Possibly.

A Brigade? Hell no.

MC and the rest of the spartans fought the covenant almost immediately after they got their armor in 2525 (This is when Sam dies). Forward Unto Dawn takes place in 2526, one year after first contact. So MC is 15 and has had 1 years of experience fighting the covenant. Keep in mind that ONI kept the covenant secret until they knew what they were dealing with so most of the general military population were still in the dark and only the higher-ups knew. You can tell that General Black of Corbulo knows and is intentionally keeping it from the cadets.

taken at 5-7 years old the Spartans were put through literally the hardest training imaginable that any human being could go through.

7 years of hard combat ops training, couple with psychical augmentations, and a exoskeleton to boot.

Yea, age is not a variable here my friend.

  • 10.22.2012 8:54 AM PDT

I didn't realize that they cut that early into his career for FUD. I guess it makes sense as they were out in the field that early.

  • 10.22.2012 10:00 AM PDT

Tag 'm and Bag 'm

Because they have had the training. Some day they had to get a real combat assingment, so this was a excellent way to test the Spartan II's. And since they are better soldiers than marines and ODST they were the only ones who actually had a chance.

SPARTAN-B312 made entire militia groups (plural, so probably several groups) disappear, and he operated by himself before Reach.

If you need something killed right you send a SPARTAN.

Militia groups =/= entire armies.

Also I can't imagine the groups being any larger than 50/60 soldiers or so. Especially since this is a Spartan III we're talking about.

If you need something killed right you send a SPARTAN.

Or better yet, you could send in Captain America.

He could do what all the SPARTAN II's and III's did combined, times a thousand.

Your point the spartan III's were twelve and sent with inferior armor to fight thousands of covenant troops, and they would have won if it wasn't for 7 battle cruisers showing up.
