I don’t know if this has been mentioned but, the first top story about Halo 3 was posted by Achronos, so I assume he wrote the story (please correct me if I’m wrong), and am using that story to quote him.
In the second section of the story, right above the first picture of Chief, it says “[The Halo 3 Announcement Trailer] utilizes real-game assets, fiction and locations from parts of the ‘real’ game.” This got me thinking.
I think the “real-game assets” were basic things, like their new engines and character and vehicle designs, and “locations” were places like the desert, the structure, and New/Old Mombasa (can’t remember which) in the background. Easy enough.
But it also says “fiction” and “real” is in quotations. This is where the problem comes in. I don’t think this is referring to the Halo series in general, as in it’s fiction, because
1) everybody already knows that
2) it’s specifically talking about the Halo 3 trailer
So…fiction here seems to mean the trailer is not based on actual events of the “‘real’ game”, as in people (including myself) are trying to dig too much out of the trailer that will lead us nowhere. So, the events portrayed in the trailer are fiction (don’t actually happen); it is just to get us interested in Halo 3. That would mean that many current theories are based on what people interpreted from the “fiction”, which is a problem.
Now, Bungie might have hidden some clues about plot in the trailer, but those clues would have to be separated from the “fiction” and I don’t know which is which. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with theories about plot using Halo CE and Halo 2, but I see a lot of theories out there solely based on the Halo 3 Announcement trailer. Overall though, I think trying to make theories out of the trailer is just beating a dead horse, though I will probably continue to do it. :)
That’s how I understood it. Tell me what you think of this "theory" about "wrong theories": constructive criticism is appreciated, but please no flaming.
Perhaps. You could just ask him though, though he will likely give you the standard: "I can neither confirm nor deny [insert whatever here]." Recon, in your signature you have a link to a "Meet The Ninjas." Is that all of you? I thought there were more of you guys.
