Sorry If this has been posted a thousand times, but ...
Doesn't it seem kind of silly to have a sign out there saying there's Grunts? Why would you put a warning for the weakest of the fighters in the Covenant?

Maybe the Grunts have become stronger (man I sound stupid now) and are special or something? Maybe they are super beings when something is activated... or maybe not.

I just don't understand why they would put a Grunt on a sign. You may say "oohh it's just an Easter Egg, don't worry about it!" but why would they put in an easter egg so obvious that can question the stability of the game?

In the OXM magazine they ask basically "What's this? A Grunt Crossing sign? A Warning: Grunts sign? Or is it a Easter egg? Or is it something more?"

Bungie's answer was (with a wink) : "The New Mombasa City Works department is one of the most efficient and speedy on Earth. The idea that they would produce appropriate traffic signage, even during an alien invasion, is not outside the bounds of reason."

If the NMCW is the most efficient, then the NMCW wouldn't waste time warning people DURING WARTIME about the weakest of the kind of enemy in a desert! I think something significant happened to the grunts, or maybe they ARE the forerunners! *gasp*

I don't know, maybe Bungie (with a wink) meant that it WAS an easter egg, and that was their excuse (since Bungie's always right)

Any thoughts???

Edit: Or maybe the sign meant that the area was a "Grunt Preservation Zone"

I think the grunt sign indicates that the covies have been in power for a little while in New Mombasa.

I think it's in the trailer FAQ.

Location: Outlaws' Summit.

the indepth analysis of the trailor ( you can find it on ign) says that the major of the city put the sign there as a "warning" about the excess covie in the area

but its all just a joke. the grunt sign is an easter egg ( and a sweet lookin one at that :-)

Why would Bungie go against Bungie's word?

Unless the NMCW was under covenant's control?

Or maybe your just wrong? h/o i'll check

well the grunts are weak compared to the MC but if a normal human was attacked by a grunt it could be dangerous

It's a bloody in-joke.

It's not meant to be taken seriously.

Go stand next to your dog, or something that is up to your knee. What would you do? Kick it.

I suppose a grunt could bite pretty hard... lol

Grunts are a lot bigger than dogs ;)

I don't know the exact height but just compare them to marines.(I could check my Halo 2 Guide, Halo Novels or 'The art of Halo' book for the height...)
