I think we should talk about what we think makes games good and/or the elements of a game. In fact, let's just have a mail sack of the following questions:
1. Do you subscribe to the ideology of a game development company putting things into their game just to elicit an emotional reaction?
2. Have you ever not been able to enjoy a game that everyone else seems to love because of its art style and/or color scheme? If so, which game?
3. What, in your opinion, is the easiest facet of a game for the developer to get horribly wrong? Think of this from both sides of the console, so to speak.
4. What is your favorite HUD in gaming and why?
5. Is there a game that belongs to a particular genre that you're normally not a fan of, but you happen to enjoy? If so, why do you think this is?
6. On the NES/Genesis it was the Platformer, and these days it's the Shooter. What do you think will be the next genre to dominate the market to the extent of these two examples?
7. What do you think holds video games back from being thought of as a legitimate way in which to tell a story, on caliber with TV, Film, and literature?
8. What is your favorite flash-based game?
