We've been here since you left.
We left before you came.

As long as the Bungie forums are still up, people are still playing Halo 2 on XBL and Bungie keeps releasing little tidbits, the public will never lose interest in Halo.

this would just slow down the release of the game. would that make you happy? also, if they dont give us any photage or demos, then that will increase the hype of the game, thus increasing sales.

um....well thats true to an extent. look at oblivion. It had tons of hype early on.....then came the long time period of no footage (yes thats how you spell it) and eventually more and more people started to loose interest in it. Than close to release the were somehow able to save themselves but, theres no guarantee it would happen again. Sure this is halo 3 which is more anticipated but that doesn't mean it will always keep people interested if its kept secret. in the long run it could decrease hype/sales.

think about halo 2, there are a lot of halo 2 hatters because they thought there was to much revealed about the game. how about this, if they give us just enough information then we will all be satisfied and wont have to make dumb threads about playable demos.

Trust me. No one's going to forget about Halo 3 or lose interest.

you can say that but someone on the oblivion forum would say the samething about oblivion. anyway it doesn't matter because they are obviously going to show us some footage so no it wont happen. were talking about a demo here, not footage.

Dawn of the Dead video Here
6 Minutes of Hell video here

Actually, I do recall playing a demo of halo ce in eb games. It was after halo was released when I played it, so I don't know when it was released. I don't like the idea of a demo for halo 3 though. Just wait for the game, makes it all that much better.

Exactly. Bungie is too busy working on Single Player and Multiplayer to focus on a demo. But since Halo 3 will be out after E3 2007, maybe Bungie will show some really cool stuff at E3.

how do you know it will be released after E3 2007?

Well we are talking about a playable part of Halo before it comes out.

Because E3 is in Early May, and everyone seems to think it will come out in July or November.

I hope they don't release a demo. I was a major Halo CE snob, and if they would have released a demo of Halo 2, I would have never purchased it. I would have played the demo, decided it wasn't enough like CE, and never thought twice about it...

9 million hours of Halo 2 later, I'm glad I just bought the game without sampling it.

My point is, Bungie releasing a demo will only negatively affect sales. I would imagine the amount of people that need to be 'persuaded' to buy Halo 3 is marginal. As such, giving people a taste will only convince some NOT to buy it. It's not going to convince anyone to buy TWO copies...know what I mean?

Unless it's an upstart developer with a killer app and no marketing muscle, I think demos are a terrible idea for software developers.

I put on pants for this?

it would increase hype because its a new year and people are staying up all night anyway so it would be very convienent

I love your wishful thinking, maybe if we all think that, and I do mean EVERYONE on Earth, maybe it will happen. To tell you the truth I would be happy with anything Bungie did, as long as they do something.

Actually there was a playable demo of H2 but only the top MLG Pros at the time who got a chance at playing the demo at MLG Seattle-The Downpour zanzibar 1 Flag CTF which is exactly 1 hour 25 minuts and 03 seconds of MLG footage got to take the demo level home... But sadly we never ended up with that better version of the game.:(

You really want them to divide their time between working some demo and finishing the game?

i would want one. they wouldn't do a single player one though. it would reveal parts of the story. my idea was a multiplayer map with nothing new. only the old weapons that are barely changed, no new vehicles, nothing but the engine, map, and graphics upgrade. it would give us a taste, but at the same time it would save the surprise for the release of the final game.

What the hell is this? This is nothing but better graphics...

Oh okay, so that's why THERE WAS A DEMO for Halo 2! We just didn't get to play it. It was for show only.

That wasn't a demo, it was a prerendered E3 showcase, smartass.
That was an E3 demo.

EDIT: On another note, yes, a playable demo would definitely sway me over.

You know Joe, I noticed the same-thing. I can't believe people are trying to argue about something such as pre-release demo. I think they might feel like they have to prove how "smart" they are by finding every technical problem with an idea.

DUDE! GUYS! Bungie can do it! All they have to do is release a completed level or half level of the game. They can even tweak it later. It can be like an appetizer to our main course. Don't argue about this. Invite it! Halo 3 demo in 2006!

All they'd have to do, I would imagine, is take a slice out of the game (like a multiplayer map) and put it into playable form. It won't divert Bungie's attention as much as you think it will. It is probably like taking a map and copying it (for the demo) and then releasing it.

EDIT--Loosewire has the right idea. So does Amorphous joe.

Yeah but they're not going to just release a MP level for the hell of it. I think the best we can hope for is a trailer with some snipets of gameplay and MP just like they did with H2.

It would be funny if they remade lockout and only put that in a demo and only let you use the weapons that were in Halo CE or Halo 2.
