I have an idea that hopefully many people would find plausible:
To any Bungie staff reading this-------I have an idea for a reasonable demo: how about you sell an Xbox 360 disk with the following Halo 3 features:
---2 multiplayer maps
--the ability to go head-to-head on these multiplayer maps
--Each player starts with two weapons (no other weapons are on the maps, to conserve secrecy)
--Normal shields, 5 minutes, slayer, 25 kills to win, no motion sensor, no starting grenades.

With these settings, it will be easier to conceal more exciting parts of the game.

What does everyone think of this idea?
More importantly, what does Bungie think of this idea?

Sounds great vitamin. But, honestly all I care is that I even get to play a pre-release demo. I do think however, that there should at least be one new thing to wet our appetite.

Good idea. I hope everyone hears us out, because this demo could really happen if most of the community agrees.

They never made a playable demo for Halo 1 or 2 so why would they make one for Halo 3? Their already busy enough as it is.

Halo 1 had a playable demo of the Silent Cartographer shortly after it came out. The reason they said they did not make a demo for halo 2 is because they knew it was gonna sell, it didnt need a demo. For halo 3, it actually might be smart to have a MP demo at some time, to boost the sales of the xbox 360, maybe even around the time PS3 came out. If they through in a gun or two, maybe a new feature, and put you in a new map, people would go crazy.

The fact is that Bungie is too busy to make a demo. All the demos you guys are talking about came out after the original game was released. Why would they change their marketing scheme for the last game?

shut the -blam!- up, please. I can't stand this wheedling. Please - have some dignity and wait, let the game be a surprise.

Playable demo is EXTREMELY unlikely.

It would be the most played software or download on Xbox 360 until Halo 3 was actually released, and yet still be very limiting as a game.

Microsoft would be furious for distracting attention from other games. They make most of their money on software and peripherals, not consoles.

Bungie will show us gameplay before the game is complete to collect reactions and input. No Playable Demo!

There is not going to be a demo! Personally, I would rather Bungie spend their time on a whole game instead of wasting more time on a demo.

You really want them to divide their time between working some demo and finishing the game?

Actually no, they wouldn't have to take any of their time out. They do tests all the time to elimenate bugs and see how the game is progressing. They are called alpha's and beta's, and I'm sure many still exist. They could simply give us one of the tests. However I would prefer not to, and just wait til the game comes out.

If there's still part of the alpha or beta version left, take a chunk out of it and sell it.

Bungie doesn't do demos. Nuff' said.
Oh really, then why did they make a demo for Halo PC combat evovled? Huh? Huh? HUH? I believe they're coming out with a demo for H2PC a couple months before the actual game is released :)

Here is a tidbit from the Halo 3 FAQ:

Q

What about the Covenant civil war? Are Elites our friends now?

A

That's plot. Unless you see something in a new trailer, or spot a clue, you're not going to get any plot until the game ships. That's how we roll. You'll just have to play and see.

So they probably aren't going to release a demo of any campaign levels. Because any dialog or environments would give away critical plot points.

ahh...hope. If only we can have faith. Faith: the assured expectation of the things hoped for. Can we really have faith that we will receive a pre-release demo. Please, Bungie give us faith.

NO! BECAUSE THEN YOU'LL WANT ONE MORE THING!

  • 06.29.2006 11:49 AM PDT

I would much rather just have the whole package at once. There are plenty of other good games to tide me over until Halo 3 comes out.
