And another thing. Cortana never detonated In Amber Clad's fusion reactor, even though Tartarus activated Delta Halo. Doesn't anyone think that's wierd? I think there may be some ulterior motive for Cortana staying on High Charity.

If you have read the books (which I did in under a week yay!) Cortana may have thought that a few living specimens of the flood might help in finding a way to repell them, they wont controll them, its to far fetched and to dangerous, she may want to see what happens when the flood conqueres something, or she knew gravemind was around.

There's a problem sending the flood to the covenant homeworlds
1)The flood would infect over half of the galaxy and kill us of with trillions of combat, carrier, and juggeruant forms.
2)The flood would be speard over the galaxy after infecting the covenant population so they would be impossible to contain the flood before they find a way to leave to other galaxies and infect any life there.

Hey this is a little off topic but how did the flood learn to fly interstellar ships and drive tanks, it may be because they steal all the memories from the person they infect but still. Everysingle flood form single mindedly making an attack on a certain planet-thing is a little mind boggleing. One other thing remind me where in amber clad came from.

Good question. There are a couple of possible explanations for this. One is that the Flood are a hive mind and each is controlled by a single consciousness, like say the Gravemind. They would all act as extensions of his body, so in reality only the gravemind would need to be intelligent. But if that is so, who or what controlled them in Halo 1? Another school of thought is based on a comment that 343 Guilty Spark makes in Halo 1, which is that "their parasitic nature belies their intelligence" or something like that, which to me says that although they may look like space zombies, they are really concious and aware and have an agenda of their own to keep. And if they are individually intelligent, then they might be far more intelligent than either the Covenant or Humans in order to adapt to their technology so quickly, which reinforces a connection with the Forerunners.

Not to mention that they seemed to try and keep Captain Keyes "intact". The way the Keyes flood form was growing and connecting itself to the Truth and Reconciliation's control console was more then a bit disturbing.

Now I have to go back and play some Halo 2 campaign... because oddly, I remember getting a close up look at a Flood driving a warhog and he seemed almost blended into it. I have to wonder if I was dreaming that up :)

Except for the fact Johnson's side effect is due to his having a TERMINAL disease!!!!

LOL!

There is already a cure for the flood. A shotgun.
Just one application and the infection gone!

i believe the forrunners built the flood looking for immortality, but it either only worked for certain people, or it went horribly wrong.

I'm a really big fan of that theory too.

One of my earlier threads was a pretty well thought out explanation for something like that, but that thread died a quick death, unfortunately. But pretty much that was it.

Well, no one lives forever...yet. But that's where the regenerative aspect of the leftover Flood DNA comes into effect, maybe the disease acts like a vaccine against infection, but the leftover Flood genes heal someone enough to counteract the mortality of the disease, ya follow?

I got to this, and didn't feel like reading anymore. If you didn't know.. Sgt. Johnson is god. He never dies... he can't... hes to.. erm... badass. He's the coolest in the halo universe so he's untouchable.

Alright mister smarty man, who would win in a fight, Sgt. Johnson or Chuck Norris?

I'll tell you who wins...

the fans.

It is possible that the Forerunners created the Ark whatever it may be, to protect themselves from the activation of the Halo constructs.

Also the Ackerson theory could feature here, with the new Spartan trainees being infected by the Flood, as Ackerson tries to create the ultimate super soldier. Remember he was very interested in the current Spartan medical records.

Imagine fighting against a Spartan/Flood clone in Halo 3, nightmare scenario.

It was also mentioned in an Xbox magazine that Bungie had stated that the Construct in the Halo 3 teaser trailer was meant to look familiar, remember what it looked like? to me it looked like a mini Halo ring on it's side, so this could be a facility that is capable of controlling all of the Halo's remotely.

As to Sgt Johnson, who knows there could be many outcomes.

That, and Dr. Halsey'd abduction of that other Spartan, I still can't think of why she would do that.

He may not have been infected, but he still had one up in his program. You're right though, a way to counter the Flood could be found, which could save a lot of lives...But we would loose Johnson. Cheif didn't seem to make that decision.

Besides, there is always a chance that Johnson's (keep in mind Johnson is basically a cure-all) Boron's Syndrome, will be cured by the Regernatative Capabilities, thus making him infectable.

A possible explanation/solution to that has already been addressed. Repeatedly.

I have thought maybe he coused the oout break on the second ring if you look at the Pelicans on Qurantine(Sorry) they are infected and thier is also alot of Infected Marines in the area.
I think this happened by johnson infecting the crew befor they dropped. That would also explain how the ship got infected when it was only droping and not reciving crew.
Also If you think in the first game why did he ride down to halo in a boat and not a pod?
One more
Why did the captin not warn her crew about the flood?

Flaming, then? Your statement was completely flippant and not even remotely funny to be passed off as a joke. Don't dish it if you can't take it.
