Subject: Pistol/Assault Rifle Revelation I Just Had

... Alright guys, I need to point something out- and get it painfully clear.

In the old Halo the Assault Rifle and Pistol were your starting weapons most of the time. Bungie noticed how odd it was for your pistol (a smaller gun) to be so much better than the much larger Assault Rifle. That makes the game horribly unrealistic so technically, the pistol turns into an Assault Rifle and the Assalt rifle turns into the Pistol.

1.)Pistol turns into a much larger Assault Rifle type weapon- and keeps almost all of it's original qualities.

2.)Assault Rifle changes into a smaller pistol type weapon. To make the new Assault Rifle better, dual wielding is added. It also keeps almost all of it's original Assalt Rilfe qualities- just smaller.

So now, in Halo 2 things are much more realistic. The bigger gun is more powerful, while the smaller one is weaker, and is dual wieldable. You see, the pistol and Assault rifle are back, just with a new skin and a couple of new features.

I hopes that clears things up for you guys.

Hmmmm.... that might be true !
Never thought about it that way :)

But !... the SMG is better than an AR, right ?
Or is that just me... ?

Well all I know is the SMG Sounds better. I love the sound of people in the distance useing it. Like in that 19 second demo and the E3 2k3.

It all depends on perspective on which weapon is better. If you like automatic, inaccurate weapons, go with the SMG. If you like the more accurate, but slower weapon, go with the BR.

But personally, I like the BR. It has a scope. I like scopes.

People use to argue that I was wrong, but the poll about what people will use just proved to me that people do listen to me, today is good.

Yeah, I think this was Bungie's logic when they took out the pistol and Assalt Rifle. I know it made me feel better about the pistol when I started to figure out this stuff. Just think, the pistol has more rounds and looks cooler. ;-)

Out as in not the same one as in Halo 1, it may not have a zoom and will probably be less powerful, but who cares? The Battle Rifle is way better.

I bet there will be at least one form of Human pistol in Halo 2, probably a magnum. But the old pistol has probably been turned into the Battle Rifle.

Yeah there should be a pistol in the game, M6D or not, the pistol from First Strike will hopefully be included. However, just for the sake of storyline purposes, I hope that the assault rifle makes it, and I'd still like to see some crewmembers using the M6D. If they aren't included I'm sure Bungie will come up with a valid explanation, perhaps forces stationed on earth got the new weapons first??

I think a good cover up for the story would be this:

Either

1) Humans just upgraded weapons in the period of Halo CE

2) Humans got desperate and handed out prototypes

3) Less powerful weapons are used on ships to prevent making holes.

In Halo: First Strike didn't Dr. Hasley talk about a new pistol that was twice as powerful as the M6D?

Yes, but it was a prototype

The M6D is a magnum. Magnum refers to the lenth of the casing not the calibur. If you are refering to the one it First Strike it is a larger calibur, but will most likely not be a magnum. The shorter shell will decrease the range and stopping power.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I just have the habit of calling the pistol mentioned in First Strike the "magnum". But as you said I guess technically it's not even that...

From now on I'll call it the First Strike Pistol.

Are u blamming serious. Use ur -blam!- head. Uh, bigger bullets = more damage. Compare the ar round to a pistol round in halo. U'll notice a huge difference. And they didn't switch them around. For halo2 they wanted a more useful type of pistol. 30 rounds for br and 10 for the pistol smoked that. 3 round burts mode and 1 round burst mode vs always 1 shot. Smoked that. My point I am getting too is that they combined the 2 guns so u don't need either. And then they created a more capable automatic gun. Thats right the smg. A br is more like a pistol but is 2 handed just like the ar and has a faster shooting capability.

oh ya bigger is not always better by a long shot. I'd take a sniper rifle over a rocket launcher any day. Mainly because I can get a steady nice aim, I'm a crackshot (hell yeah), and puts an enemy down simply and instantly. I do not snipe a whole lot though but I am awesome at it. I hate sniping.
