probally not, considering the allies would have lost the war with out us, therefore we won the war for the allies, not to mention history is very subjunctive, and it is very hard to have a wrong opinion
The US would have lost the war without the USSR, UK, Canada or France, I could go on but it's late.
Lose that "We won the war ourselves." idea before you post again please. The US was only needed for the last push. Why?
Because they had all these fresh troops because THEY DIDN'T FIGHT until "the last minute". That's like if 3 guys are pushing a piano up a hill, and the fourth guy helps them push it the last meter and claims he did all the heavy lifting. In no way should the late comer claim they did all or most of the work.If you are talking about WWI when American troops came in first as rebuilders and logistics then as fighting men near the very end of the war, then that is the situation in which you would be most correct. Still not technically correct though.
However, ignoring the United State's atlas-like support of European and Russian wartime economies as well as the massive roles they played in war infrastructure manufacturing of Europe and Russia, the entire Pacific Theatre of War and the USMC's island hopping campaign, U.S. Supreme Commander of Allied Forces in Europe (Ike), spearheading the Normandy Invasion and the subsequent liberation of France (with Britian), the finished development of the Atomic Bomb before Japan or Germany, splitting the attention and manpower of the Desert Fox's forces in Africa which helped the British hold the Suez Canal (and stop Hitler's dreamed-of oil routes), and the development of nearly all technology most European nations didn't want to keep in their possession and sent to the United States (for development like the radar efficient enough for airplanes that Britian used in their air power to defend their mainland, fighters that could oust the Japanese Zero, the technologies used to develop the most capable and largest Navy to enter the war, etc.)... Yeah then I guess you could attempt to minimize the important of the U.S. in WWII. I could do the same with Britain, France, Russia, Australia, etc., but then I'd be pulling nonsense out of my rear.
To deny any major combatant's role in either of the world wars would be to deny the key factors of the war simply because you disagree. The U.S. as well as Russia, Germany, France, and nearly all fighting and non-fighting allied powers were absolutely essential in the 2nd world war.
