Subject: One improvement I would like to see...Friends List.

Disregard Females, acquire currency.

To be able to send friend request to users and an Instant messenger. Sure the private message system is okay. But I think it would be so much better if we could communicate with our friends that are actual bungie.net users and not people on our xbox friends list who don't even use this site. What do you guys think?

Only after we ban Bricypoo.

But then everyone would know I have no friends.

+1 for you good sir.

I agree. Ignore what people may think about social websites, being able to easily communicate and make friends with people from Bungie.net is a great idea.

I like it the way it is, a forum, if you wanna chat or something just pm yourself your own contacts and problem solved.

It would still be a forum...

Have you seen my mind anywhere? I seem to have lost it...

0x0 x0x 0x0 000 000 x0x 000
x0x 0x0 0x0 0xx 000 0x0 000
x0x x0x x00 0xx 0x0 x0x 0x0

I have seen you future

I'm indifferent on the issue. A friends list could be handy if you have a list of people you message regularly and want an easy way to get in contact with them.

I'm less enamored with the instant messenger idea. I think one of the great things about a forum is that it is based around the concept of group discussion. There is a PM system for things that you want to keep between two people for any number of reasons, but that is secondary. I'm not saying that implementing a IM system would be harmful to the site, I just don't know if there would be all that much gained from it.

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

I say we get rid of the forums and move all of the discussion onto pages where people have to be fans of the page to discuss on the page. We should also be able to post on our profile pages so people know what we're eating and what kind of mood we're in. This would be helpful so you know when not to post if a ninja spilled coffee on his crotch.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

In my an opinion an on site IM system would kill the forums.

  • 10.23.2012 7:28 PM PDT

I would like a friend's list, but I think an IM system would make the forums less active because things would be discussed over chat instead of on the boards.

I like the PM system currently, but I'm sure there's something we could think of to improve that instead of adding a whole new system.

Can someone tell me what's wrong with these two, this made me LOL hard.

Some groups have decided to make tinychats. Seems better that way.

Break down, every single one of you.

I don't think that is necessary. The forums and PMs are for communication. Groups can also serve this purpose.

Pretty much this - the way people post in IM and forums is very different. They both serve a different purpose and they shouldn't be a substitute for each other.

Okay maybe not an instant messenger but still a friends list of actual bungie.net users.

Halo waypoint has a 'buddy' system and I don't see the use for it. If you become good friends with someone on here, add them on Facebook.

The Friends List is pointless without an IM system. Unless it had online statuses. Even then... if you're that connected with someone that you need to know when they're online you probably have them added on Facebook or are friends with them IRL at that point.

But even THEN, the messaging system is a proverbial game of phone-tag anyway. It doesn't matter when someone is online.

This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends;
Not with a bang but a whimper.

While most people would probably say it'd be too much like Facebook, I actually agree with this, mostly because it's not something that affects you if you don't like it.

This community/site is not a forum. It merely includes them.

There's another forum site on the web which includes multiple chat sessions. The forum is clearly still the most popular part of the site, and the site itself is in the top 100 sites with the most traffic on the web.

Not everyone would use a chat system anyway.

I've made plenty of friends on this site through private groups. To have a friend system on the site would be, kinda weird. I'm going to add this person as a friend because they made a funny post on the Flood, or because I agree with them in this debate thread. Then what?

The relationships/friendships I forge on this website are more personal than that. On a place like Facebook, it's a more personal experience than any forum I've frequented, because usually you're not behind an alias. You're sharing more of your life with someone on Facebook.

I would say friend lists aren't necessary. Chat option, sure, perhaps in Private groups only.

Wake me, when you need me.

This is an age old forum feature. Forums have been using the friends list for years now. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing it here as well, along with a like system.

I would like a IM for Private Groups and also a page that shows who's online in that group. I would not however like a IM in the general forums though.
