Subject: Forerunners could use the force?

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

We've already seen telepathy, teleportation, anti-gravity, and time travel. Why are people so shocked?
Beats me, it's even indicated with the same graphical effect as Tartarus grav-hammer (Fist of Rukt) makes when capturing 343GS.

I can confirm that.

Telepathy: On Halo 3's last level, 343 Guilty Spark and his constructs know when the Gravemind has contacted you. If you deploy Auto-Turrets afterward, they'll be an enemy.

Teleportation: Arbiter exhibits it regularly, Regret is a cheating bastard, raining Brutes, not to mention all Pro Knights have this
Defying gravity: Wraiths can fly, Scarabs can walk on thin air, super jumping Chieftains
Time travel: floating Brutes, half-dead Scarabs

If people think the Didact's equipment is weird, then they haven't played enough of Halo. There's much more weirder stuff going on. ;) Like a hologram being able to damage you, an Elite Ranger who can fly through walls, clones, people getting back up after being killed.

No, that's because Sparks wants you dead for trying to blow up his new Ring.

Defying gravity: Wraiths can fly, Scarabs can walk on thin air, super jumping Chieftains

The first two are probably gameplay glitches, the this is because jiralhanae have really damn strong legs.

Time travel: floating Brutes, half-dead Scarabs

...Neither of those are time travel, and again, gameplay glitches.

Like glitches unrelated to the story?

Like a hologram being able to damage you,

The forerunners have hardlight technology, this isn't unbelievable at all.

an Elite Ranger who can fly through walls,

Glitch.

clones,

We can clone organism even today.

people getting back up after being killed.

Glitch.

About the holograms, he was talking about halo 2 heretic leader, not forerunners.

You didn't see this coming? Compared to all the things we've seen with the forerunners technology, it's not that big of a surprise to me.
agree

  • 10.26.2012 11:07 AM PDT

force?... really? ridiculous. do they need to give you an in-depth description of every bit of tech used? like should the animation stop and give you a 20 minute documentary on the history of forerunner technology before a 5 second scene finishes? O_o

the chief's armor is a product of human research mixed and mashed up with bits of discovered covenant (which is very much based on forerunner tech) and forerunner technology that has been discovered. now who might have the technology and know abouts to manipulate such technology with ease? a forerunner, perhaps? c'mon guys.. the force? bahhh! we're talking about a race that made gravity their -blam!- well over 100,000 years ago here. :P

We should know better, because we are better.

*insert lame Schwartz joke*

Probably just some complicated anti-gravity. Like Tartarus's hammer, but shrunken down to fit on the arm.

I know. Hardlight constructs are my explanation.

But how did he know that the alliance wanted to blow it up? The Gravemind moment happens before Johnson's death!!

  • 10.26.2012 4:50 PM PDT

Why are you here?

I was concerned about this for about 5 seconds as well, but then I realized it's the same concept and technology they use as their floating platforms/gravity lifts. It's been here all along, Didact just uses it in a different way.

Easter Egg Hunter. Apprentice Tricker/Glitcher (learning from Grumpy and Sliding Ghost).

Trying to get Waypoint to update Halo 3 stats in detail like here. Now no one can see that my Halo 3 Spartan no longer looks like my Reach Spartan.

Really want to be a Heroic member or have a title. :/

Of course their glitches he's talking about. Sliding Ghost is the king of glitches and tricking on Halo. And he's good at it.

The Force, Eh? Dude its like a sphere of perfectly lined mancannons, a stasus field, hardlight, or some totally mind -blam!- tech.

"Where ere thou hast been, here or in yon world manifest? Canst thou tell what is, or what was, or what is to come? No thing shall last. Yet there are some things that will never change. History is written in blood, yet are battles really lost on the battlefield? Canst thou tell me where thou comest, and where thou goest, and what is, or what was, or what will be? For everything remains, AS IT NEVER WAS."

He's likely either interfacing with the electronics in Chief's suit, using some sort of magnetic field to move him (think Magneto,) or in some way he's manipulating the Chief's geas.

HE DIDNT FLY, HE WAS FORCED TO A POSITION, if gravity would be disabled he wont be forced to stay in a position moveless...

Well, he's suspended in mid air, anti-grav is pretty logic way of explaining that. It's a loose term, I doubt people mean that the term's only function is removing gravity. Probably just that it somehow defies gravity by doing this and that (sci-fi stuff).

As I said earlier: there is even a distortion effect when the Didact holds Chief, the same kind as when Tartarus uses his grav-hammer to capture 343GS. The Covenant salvage Forerunner stuff, the Didact is/was a Forerunner.
