For those of you have read all three of the Halo books, you might agree with me. Because you would have noticed that every time MC goes to activate something of forerunner origin he knows just what to push, where to go, and how to do it! So it becomes increasingly obviopus that humans are forerunner, but just cant remember it (maybe of some radical procedure a million years back I don't know). But because the SPARTANS have so many enhancements including memory its pretty obvious they are forerunner!

You're right! I read in the books that all humans have the innate memory of how to use switches made by an ancient civilization! And human mothers also subliminally teach their son the Forerunners ancient building maps! [/sarcasm]
We don't remember the life of monkeys, because we have no reason to.

Some Humans are reclaimers. Humans are not Forerunner

Anyway I figure that humans are called reclaimers because they are chosen by the sparks to get the icon of that certain installation, to activate halo and rid the flood of the world. Sort of like Jesus coming to save us of our sins.

I agree, and believe that the Humans are the forerunners because...

*deep breath*

First, the Halo rings are rigged to mimic exactly the conditions of earth, right down to atmosphere and weather. The structures on Halo are also the right size for humans (doors, etc.). As the thread-starter stated, the Master Chief had a strange instinct that guided him to activate the light bridge and other things.

Zooming ahead, 343 needed a human to activate the rings. In the novel there was actually a rather badassed marine that died in the attempt. As 343 is muttering happily to you in the library, he hints of a previous reclaimer that was similar to the Master Chief, whom actually went through with it the first time the rings were activated ("when you asked me last time, would I do it?" last time? What last time?). The brutes also needed a human to activate Delta Halo.

343 on the Pillar of Autumn says while tapping into the human's database "Finally, to have a record of all of our lost time! Human history is it?"

Now the ark. We know that it is located on earth. The forerunner ship that launched after the remote activation started was heading to earth, and at the end of the game when 343 mentions the ark, the Arbiter asks "and where, Oracle, is that?" It then immediately (as if answering the question) cuts to the Master Chief riding the forerunner ship to earth.

Considering all of these, I have come up with this theory:
The forerunners built the rings to contain and study the flood. When the flood escaped, they were forced to activate them, but spared a few forerunners (humans) in the ark (the one place safe from the rings' destruction) on earth. These remote activated the rings, then, using the stuff preserved in the ark, rebuilt the race on earth. Do you see the symbolism of the Bible? The "Ark" used to escape the "Flood" and so on and so forth. It seems that in the Halo universe, Noah and the Ark originated from the aforementioned theory. The story of Noah and the Ark is a history of ancient humans, not aliens.

One argument is that the humans were a secondary species whose purpose was to be the declaimers, not the forerunners themselves. For the sake of argument, this doesn’t make a lick ‘a since.

"You ever wonder what's up there"
"Like what"
"Maybe someone up there was wondering what it's like here"
"I guess, do you think will ever meet them"
"I hope so, don't you...?"

- The proof there's intelligent life in the universe is the fact that they haven't visited Earth.

The Forerunner's could have simply been a hegemony like the Covenant are. Who knows?

So all our technology and weaponry and everything was lost as we went back to clubs. I saw on the discovery channel, every event that happens on a planet would have effected how the lifeforms turned out, we're only human because of what happened to our ancient civilisations. With the knowing which button to push, how hard is it to find a switch on a pad, espetially when you have a super intellagent digitized purple mini woman in your head. He does the sme with the covenangt and he doesn't know what their symbols do. Same with their weapons aswell, not that hard to guess with a simple look.

Just to add to this, we probably did'nt keep all this technology because Earth didn't have the resources and types of minerals to support such technology, and being disconected from the rest of the race we were forced to learn everything all over again.

Alright, I want everyone who has read the books to think back to when Master CHief first tried to use a Forerunner keypad. It said that he knew what to press but he wasn't sure why. it was something he remmembered.

WTF is selective neural paralysis and how would it explain him knowing how to use a Forerunner keypad?

um, i only played the games, and i just sort of thought that it was implied that humans were forerunner, at least decendants. and humans being reclaimers so they can't be forerunner? um, if all nogs are cogs, can nogs also be gorts? firefighters are firefighters AND human. am i clear? what im saying, is that i've always thought "reclaimer" was just the name of humans put in that particular role. and when somebody like GS says something along the lines of "we need a reclaimer" he means he needs somebody to fill that role. i have no idea if he or any other character says anything close to something along those lines, but you get my point.

Well, you know, I don't think it really matters. This is a fictional story created by writers, who probably act idependently of us. This argument is of what the writers might do based on what they have done. You can take all your human history, science, discovery channel, or whatever else, but it won't make any difference.
