Brute names are actually made of two parts. At birth they are given a name, let's say Brut, and when they reach adulthood the '-us' suffix is added, so it would be Brutus. Tartarus was originally named Tartar until later in his life. This. Although some Brutes are known to have "-um" instead of of "-us" as the suffix.
Also theorized that each pack might have a different 'adult' suffix.
Like the region tartarus was born in has packs that use the "us" suffix, while other region brutes have a different one. Or the "us" is the most common.Possibly. It would make sense.
I do know Elites have an "-ai" suffix as well, but that's only to denote Swordsman status. Pretty sure there's a whole slew of things for their various classes.
Point is, Bungie liked Greece and the Jews and Rome. And suffixes.
