Alright this is my theory that you go back to the city in Halo 3 that we fought in Halo 2. I think this because remember when they made a jump into lightspeed? They would have destoryed the city. Well I think when they did that it made a crater, and underneath was some type of "Forerunner" building some of you call it the Ark I myself don't know what it is. Anyways I think it is the same city because there is a road you notice to the left of Master Chief when he is standing on the ledge of the crater. Also I would like to point out that is not a "grunt crossing" sign it is just a normal road sign which could be some remains of the city. All in All that is basically my theory for the trailer....if that even is a theory.

With the damage wreaked by a Slipspace jump the crater would be much larger. The city was gigantic, there's no way it would look like that. Vegetation would not grow that fast, and the soil should be completely gone, leaving only rock.

True about the vegetation but the hole is big you got to admit. besides you can kind of see a trace of a road...
