Assuming Halo 3 is more like Halo 2 in terms of gameplay, why not have a classic mode that has the weapons from Halo 1, fall damage, and health? Bungie would not need to make new maps, but just make the gameplay like Halo 1's. This way all Halo fans would be satisfied. If you didn't like Halo 1's gameplay then you could just ignore classic mode and play regular Halo 3 multiplayer. Halo 1 gameplay might not work as well for all the Halo 3 maps, but I wouldn't mind as long as it worked fairly well.

Yes, you can easily pop in Halo 1 and play that if you want the old gameplay, but my point is that a lot of people complained about Halo 2 because the weapons and gameplay didn't have the same feel that Halo 1 did. These people complained because they didn't want to put Halo 1 anymore. They wanted new maps to play on with the Halo 1 feel.

I think this would benefit Bungie in the long run because they would not have to hear people whine about Halo 3 not being more like Halo 1.

Of course I would rather them focus just on Halo 3 if it would benefit the game more, but I don't think it would take away from Halo 3 for them to spend a small amount of time doing this.

Your thoughts...

Sounds like a good idea. It sounds simple enough to implement and would add some replay value. I'm for it.

(10:19:49 PM) Scruss: oh and pezza, i saw what you did to that cat
(10:20:17 PM) Pezza: You were the one with the video camera breathing heavily. Of course you saw.

Personally, it would feel out of place. I would like it though.

That would be sweet.

Although I would never play the nonclassic mode...

I'd rather they focus as hard as they can on perfecting the new weapons loadout instead of fussing over revamped graphics and physics engines. The novelty of the idea is entertaining, but its ultimately frivilous.

This thread is a perfect example of how every question in history has been asked in this forum.

I don't think it'd be too hard.

Or maybe they could just make Halo 3 gameplay, which none of us know anything about yet. And like, get this! If we wanted to play Halo 1 or 2 style, we could just pop those discs in and play them! That way Bungie can focus on Halo 3 since they already made Halo 1 a long time ago!

i miss fall damage it made it more intense and you where less likely to have people super bounce behind you. Yes halo:ce did have super bounces. just wasn't as widely known because there was no online game play.

Stay with the Master Chief, he'll know what to do

I think no, if they made so you could play Halo 3 in "true Halo 1 style" with the same physics and stuff they would need to use a diffrent game engine = not so wery easy. Correct me if I'm wrong

Kaiyuss is right! I mean, if you want to play Halo 1 they put in the disc like normal people. Unless your an idiot and you sold it.

They can still focus on Halo 3 and implement this. I don't think it would really be that hard. Yes, you can easily pop in Halo 1 and play that if you want the old gameplay, but my point is that a lot of people complained about Halo 2 because the weapons and gameplay didn't have the same feel that Halo 1 did. I think this would benefit Bungie in the long run because they would not have to hear people whine about Halo 3 not being more like Halo 1. If it is too hard for Bungie to bring back fall damage, then they could at least bring back the weapons. I think indestructible vehicles would be pretty simple for them to bring back too. They could even have an option to switch between destructible/indestructible vehicles.

Of course I would rather them focus just on Halo 3 if it would benefit the game more, but I don't think it would take away from Halo 3 for them to spend a small amount of time doing this. They wouldn't need to make separate maps for classic mode. Just bring the gameplay of Halo 1 to the new maps.

And to who mentioned the physics engine, they would not have to design a whole new engine to do this.

How about people who like Halo 1 go play Halo 1 and let Bungie focus on H3...

I think this is one of those features that if they are strapped for time they should definitely ignore but if they somehow end up with some time left over, they have the game exactly as they want it and are just trying to add in simple features that will please more people, then they should definitely consider this (maybe have a setting where the physics/weapons etc. would be Halo 1/2 or 3 :) ) just as long as it doesn't detract from any other new Halo 3 features or gameplay then I'd like that option, although I vastly prefer Halo 2's style.

If you want that, we would need 2 or 3 disks, which would make the game(s) a lot more money.
