In my experience I found the plot to be point 3. When I've nothing to do I might read a few terminals or visit the Wiki but at the same time I don't feel the story is unique. To express this I ask you simply remove the Halo trivia and replace your hero with any heroic soldier and the enemy with any overwhelming force; would the story fell so different. The story is in many ways driven by order, you follow the plot and do as told. Their is no interaction betwenn you and the Protagonist. To me halo is playing a character not being a character and thus all I need to know is what I've got to do and how do it.
What is the plot to you?
edit: I made this thread before halo 4, post, has anything changed or been revealed to you about your true feelings?
