Would it make a differnce if I did? I roughly know its between Halo 3 and 4 about basically the Elites arguing between each other over different issues, which leads to these rogue kinda guys called Servants of the Abiding Truth. Is it worth reading them with less than two weeks to go?

Glory and fame, blood is our name!
Souls full of thunder, hearts of steel!
Killers of men, a warrior's friend!
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers!
Sons of the gods, today we shall die.
Open Valhalla's door!
Let the battle begin, with swords in the wind! Hail Gods of War!

I sure don't plan to. I've gotten enough info right here to get the basics. I'd say brush up on the Halo wiki, but I dunno how they're handling any potential spoilers for Halo 4.

I'd highly recommend the 2 current Forerunner books, tho. It sets up the plot for the Didact, and since it's likely he's the main antagonist for 4, it'd be a good idea get acquainted with him. Cryptum at the very least. Primordium doesn't really talk about him (at least not where I am in the book)

Watching FuD might also be a good idea for Lasky's backstory.

But as for the 2 Kilo-5 books, I've heard enough bad opinions of Traviss' writing that I'm gonna steer clear. Just hit up the spark notes. ...hehe spark notes.

ah ok, thanks.

But just for the record, I think Karen is a good author. Ever read any of the Commando novels from Star Wars?

She's an okay author. But the fact she publicly says she does no research and purposefully rebuilds established characters = bad.

She'd do fine in a universe of her own making for novels :P.

If you'e a fan of the lore, I say yes. I started not long ago, and I plan to finish it - and the games - before Halo 4's release.

I'm enjoying it thus far.

She's not a bad author perse...but she is for the Halo books she's written, she's openly admitted to doing no research and to even actively "rebuilding" (aka, changing them up however she sees fit and ignoring their previous characterization and personalities) established characters, and a mess of other problems. The only way she's a bad author is for another series...I've never read the extended universe stuff for Star Wars or her books (I'm not that in depth with the lore of that series), so I can't say whether she was good or bad there...but she is most definitely horrid in her Halo books for the reasons I listed above. Personally I think she should probably stick with original fiction and universes she's created herself.
