OMG -blam!- -blam!- -blam!- -blam!- OMG BAN

It's a rated M game, so people should expect M rated language.

Sure, it's an M game, but look at how popular Halo is. Think of how many kids play. A crap load. And believe it or not, the only reason so many little kids go online and swear is because that's what they see everyone else doing.

Halo is M due to Violence and Blood and Gore, not language. I admit, Halo 2 is rated M for language, but just because it's an M game, doesn't mean we should expect M language.

I think they should use a filter, just yesterday, someone came into a server I was on, simply to start team killing and yelling "-blam!- sex" repeatedly. WTF? I think this filter would help in the long run.

EDIT: See? They filtered out that word, now just apply that to Halo 2 PC!!!

I have to agree with pretty much everything he said, with one minor mod.

I can't go 2 sentences without cursing. This filter thing is the bane of my -blam!- existance. Oh well, I don't play in those gya, christian, poser servers, though.

I really don't care if you curse, it's childish, but that's your perogative to do so. What I do care about though, is that I have an ability or option to filter such language.

Whether that's done with a custom word-filter system, or simply by being able to set my game options to ignore your text chat, I care not.

btw- wats this about america's army, where do i get it?
You haven't heard of it? It's a tactical shooter, which is very fun I might add. You basically go through what an American soldier would in the US Army. And it's funded by the US Army, and it is free. The PC version, that is. It's a great game, and I used to play it alot.

Google it, go to download.com, or to the main site, AmericasArmy.com

Keep in mind it's a one-shot-buys-the-farm shooter, it's very realistic and intense and provides an exciting experience that many games cannot match.

Luckmeister, in a situation where your training men to join the armed forces, harsh language is the least they will endure. But they aren't there to frag a few buddies on Bloodgulch, nor do they just have to "deal with it", should someone do something they dont agree with.

In a situation where you can add a filter to the game or not, why choose no?

All of you are forgetting one thing about cursing: people will judge you by your words!

And also, if you think R rated language is in every M rated game, you are mistaken. Doom 3 has PG rated language and for Half-Life 2, there is some profanity but it would be in a PG movie.

I like no shield games myself, but no shield snipers takes no skill. I once played a game of no shields sniper CTF (which isn't that great) and got over 300 kills and 25 deaths.

No shield CTF games can be good, but not at 50% health, that's just insane.

"ESRB rating may be obsolete during online play"

Well it's something like that...

I think the ratings only apply for the main game, in multiplayer all you do is a kill multiple version of the same soldier who has a different coat of paint for his armour. What people say is their actions.

Halo is rated "M" for:
1. Blood and gore.
2. Violence.
Halo is NOT rated "M" for language. Halo 2 is though.
Yes, this refers to the in-game language of characters (which is wrong, I've heard them say some pretty bad stuff, and I've looked around at sound tags and there is some nasty stuff they don't say) but it should be universal. If a game doesn't already have bad language, don't add it.

I believe we should realize that Halo is a rated M game, and that we should expect profane language. However, that does not mean that people should swear in multiplayer, for that matter.

"ESRB rating may be obsolete during online play"

Well it's something like that...

That should be somehow incorporated into the ESRB notice, but it really says "Game May Change During Online Play".

Yes it's an M rated game, whoopee. The key word is OPTIONAL.

lol

Good post to the person who said it was M rated.

Is the person who started this thread 17/older? I didn't think so. So stop whining. Of cousre, I am against swearing and all that.. but I cant expect it to be filtered from an online game :-/ It's a good idea in theory, but not in practise - a bit like communism. Hurrah
