This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

I don't care if they fretted, I loved the game and still do. The multiplayer is fantastic and can give some great battles with friends.

Too bad there aren't too many real generals left that play the game... It's all new generals that got their rank after the update.

To be fair, it was made by Bungie

No it wasn't...

A Fistful of Arrows - An Unofficial Companion Piece to Halo: Reach - BY BUNGIE
It clearly states that it is an unofficial companion piece to Halo Reach, which is made by Bungie. This is what they mean. The title means to say that Reach is made by Bungie but the story is not officially endorsed by Bungie.

Alright, I guess I got confused; I read a few people on another forum saying Bungie made it, and when I saw the 'by Bungie' on the HBO site I assumed they were right.

Sorry. It's still amazing though.

I came for Halo, but I heard the Tru7h, fought thru Carnage, and stayed for Bungie.

This doesn't mean he works for or has been endorsed by Bungie.

Good thing that's not what he's saying at all.

Go here and look for the name Jerrad Hoffmeier (the creator of FFoA) and notice that he isn't an employee of Bungie.

A misunderstanding then GrandmasterNinja, my apologies and thanks for backing up my point with some hard evidence.

I honestly think the "by bungie" means "Halo Reach" only.

You know "Fistfull of arrows is a companion piece to Halo Reach, which is made by bungie."

This is a thought that creeps into my head every time someone brings up Noble team / Blue team. Have you ever wondered if Blue team would have had nearly as much character (such as it is) if all they had was a single 8-10 hour campaign split between all of them? Maybe the reason Blue are good characters are because they have more to their name? Would any of the characters in the main games be considered even remotely good if they didn't have any EU to back them up? Would your opinion of Noble Team change if instead it was Blue Team with all the EU behind them with no dialogue or scene changes? Give Noble another chance before throwing them to the ground. Just look at Caveman's threads: obviously there is potential in these characters.

Indeed... It's why I'd be interested in a book about Noble Team or Buck's squad. It's easy to bash a character when they have far, far less going for them.

I personally find the idea of "No, never make books for them because they weren't interesting in Halo reach!!" a bad excuse since well... Master Chief wasn't that interesting in Halo CE... Nor was Keyes or Johnson.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Yet until Noble Team do get explored more as characters then they will remain as terrible characters with wasted potential. They do have potential for some interesting exposition, 'A Fistful of Arrows' was a truly fantastic piece which really should be integrated into the Halo canon. But right now all we have is the game... and the game gives us next to nothing in the way of development.

I don't think anyone likes your attitude. How about you actually state your argument instead of just saying "nope." What are you? A thirteen year old? Grow up buddy. I agree with the guy. He presented facts. What did YOU bring to the table? Some teenage angst and some opinions.

You get nothing! Good day sir!

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

About AFoA: who's to say what's fan fiction nowadays... It's not like The Beatles could just add two new guys and continue making The Beatles songs... It would just be a name.

Endorsed or not, everything should be judged by its own merits, the problem is only that if anything that lived up to the criteria of being a part of a franchise, would be an official part, we wouldn't see the end of it; there would be fan fiction left and right, and there would be huge arguements--even more so than now--about what is canon and what isn't, it would ruin it for everyone*. It's therefore an officail endorsment is required, and very much needed. But just because something is endorsed doesn't mean that the additional title suddenly will live up to its original, or fit it more than a peice of fanfic could have done.

*why I personally despise fanfic. Just don't do any, make up your own damn stories!

There are hardly any true series out there, just a lot of official fanfic sharing the the same name because of endorsments and contracts.

I know I'm being naive, but it's closer to the truth than the consensus of what a actually title is, it's jus less conveniant. Example: if a sequel isn't created by the same people, it is diluted, there's nothing one can say that will change that. Thats the lowest common denominator, is the creators. Even if they change stuff, they have the right to it. But they have themselves to blame if they aren't respected anymore for doing so.

I think the industry has to learn to be more honest and more thorough when defining what a title is.

/rant.
