Subject: More than one Gravemind?

This is not really a prediction because I can not think of any place to put it in the next game but it interests me nonetheless.

What was it about Delta Halo that was so special to house the Gravemind? From what I could see, it was only minorly different in geography to Alpha Halo in H1. Could it be possible that there is actually 1 Gravemind per Halo? Maybe acting like an overlord of sorts for each group of flood.

We know that the Halos are distributed evenly throughout the galaxy (universe?) and are separated by thousands, if not millions, of light-years. It seems entirely plausible that the flood would need local leadership for each installation.

What does this mean for Halo 3? I am not sure. It obviously meant nothing for Halo 1 as the entire installation was obliterated before and gravemind there could make its presence known (if there was one at all). I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I am...whimsical today.

One major difference that separated Alpha and Delta Halo was the containment of the Flood.

On Alpha Halo the Flood were released during the same time frame that the MC was there. However, on Delta Halo the Flood had been released once already. It would seem that the outbreak was contained around the Library by the construction of the Shield Wall.

niiiiicccee

who knows if there are more? if that planet is threshold, and turns out to be the same planet that the forerunner encountered the flood, then maybe that planet is the origin of the flood and GM rightfully took refuge in the halo.........or it could be a forerunner who stowed away and succumbed to the flood; thus turning into GM

he's prolly the shadiest character in the whole dang story

Maybe. But then again, maybe that'll make it easier to kill the flood. Assuming that all Flood are controlled by one or more Gravemind, it would be safe to also assume that there is a mind-body relationship between the gravemind and all of the little flood nasties. Killing the gravemind would be like cutting off the head, all other parts would not be able to function.

The Chief is an expert at stealth and has a pretty good chance of getting close enough to do the deed.

Maybe
