I dont think that quote has much meaning. I mean, world is assumed as Earth, or another planet right? Otherwise she would have said galaxy. So if "This is the way the world ends" then only one world (planet) will end. We(humanity) can just move to another world, right?

Why would Bungie give away the ending of Halo 3 in a teaser trailer? Trust me, the halos will not be activated.

This is what I mean. At the end of the trailer Cortana says, "This is the way the world ends". Do you seriously think that Bungie would put that in to ruin the game? NO!. Therefore, the world wont end.

The other human planets were destroyed I believe. Not sure, but there could be a couple planets not yet destroyed.

Or maybe the world does end, but it causes time travel! Therefore we go back in time?

but the point is, world is such a specific word, i think that Earth will fall, but humanity will just move on to another planet. Kinda lame ending, but thats what i infer from the quote

Well, I think that the quote is simply another hint from Bungie that Halo is a futuristic version of Revelations. Really, I can't believe nobody will believe that it is Revelations, it's not like Bungie is trying to hide it or anything, they even beat you over the head with it sometimes, "this is the way the world ends," the Flood, the Ark, the Covenant. Oh, not to mention that the game is called Halo

Then why didn't you just turn it off and retype the sentence? Good job. :)

Anyway, I have a feeling the rings probably won't get activitated.. It's not really the best story if Humanity just ends. Of course, what's that one quote? Something along the lines of: "Humanity doesn't end with a bang, but a whimper."

Who knows? Maybe MC will see that Humanity is done, either way, but to stop the Covenant, is to activate the rings.

I agree with the loud, lazy guy. She may be talking in a metaphorical sense..
